Where can I get a cheap yearly membership at a range in Alberta?
I am thinking of buying a pistol or 2 and part of that you need a yearly membership. I need this to be legal and want to be able to take my pistol on my trapline and get the proper paperwork done. From what I have been told the averrage price per year is about $300 for a range membership. Is there not a place I can get a cheaper one than that?

Kinuso range is about $40 per year. I believe they also have openings. I like the 200yard range too!

Evergreen is only $120/ year. They all renew on December 31 tho. May wanna wait or talk to amber at Dudley's and see if there's a six month deal.

Thanks a ton guys. it wouldn't be worth it to have a pistol and pay $100 + a year for a membership that I most likely would not use much. I just want to see if I can carry on the trapline and make things legal. I have to write my test and get my license to buy a pistol and get a range membership to go along with all that. Thanks for the help I will look into a few of the suggestions here a bit more when it comes time to need one. Thanks

How in the world do you prepare a handgun with no range?

Ponoka is $60. Athabasca is around $120. I think you can buy a membership at Phoenix for $35, then pay for usage of their facilities as you need.

I've heard of a few people getting carry permits but I think there is a little work involved.

You also need to do a proficiency test at accredited range.

I haven't used it in a couple years, but it looks like over the last year they have done some upgrades, plus it's never really busy there. When I had my pass I had it all to myself if I went during a week day. I should go renew my membership tomorrow. It also comes with insurance and a deal on your cell phone and a year subscribtikn to a magazine. Can't remember all the pluses

You can purchase a "gun club" membership at Phoenix Gun range in Edmonton, I can't recall the exact membership name but they are about $30 if I recall. That is sufficient for the CFO to approve your hand gun purchase.
That club member doesn't allow you to use the range, but you can always pay the single use range fee if you want to ever use it.

Yearly membership
AHEIA has a range out at Caroline, and their membership is reasonable and they do good work to boot.

Shooting edge has memberships for 50$ but they don't give access to the range without paying daily rate.

The carry permit is a pain in the arse to get. I know a couple of guys that it was no issue, and a couple where they were refused flat out. Didn't seem the be a reason why either. Good luck Nube I hope you get it, the more guys that apply and get it makes it easier down the road for others, I would think anyway.

I believe it might be a lot more than that. "associate membership".
For some reason 170$ rings a bell.
