Default Spring bear hunting with ATV

Hello, I’m not sure if I’m the only one struggling with this rule or question but can you use ATV’s for spring bear hunting since it’s the only “Big Game” season open? I’ve read somewhere that there is an ATV ban between May1-June15 but for some reason can’t find that item in the regulations or is area specific? Ideally I want to quad into a cut block, setup my tent then potentially quad the logging roads and find high points to glass from but not sure if this is allowed? I know you can only use quads between sunrise and noon for “direct access to camp” during other big game seasons but I’m quite new to spring bear hunting? I’m planning on being in the 300 WMU’s/crown lands. TIA for any positive feedback! The below comment is from the regs but a bit misleading:

Hunting with Motorized Vehicles
It is unlawful to
• carry a weapon (see definition) on an OHV between 1 hour before sunrise and the following noon during an open season for big game* on public land in the following WMUs: 400-446. This does not apply to a person who is traveling on a direct route to or from a location accessible by vehicles designed for highway travel and his or her isolated campsite, and the weapons and ammunition are carried out of view in separate locked containers (and remain locked during the trip).
Also, the restriction does not apply in a WMU when the only big game season open is a spring black bear season or a cougar season..

The answer is right in your post - there are no restrictions to carrying a "weapon" on an ATV during Spring Bear season. The restriction was modified recently and only affect the WMUs in your post - 400-446 in the fall hunting season.

Check the local county / municipality regulations as there may be area specific restrictions.

Just remember that a loaded firearm in or on a motor vehicle is a no no all the time.

From Okotoks and spent this past weekend up west of Sundre. Saw a sow and two small cubs but not much sign up there in that country. I know the wolves are bad there from what I hear but I didn’t see much sign of them as far as tracks go and didn’t hear any howling at night while tenting.
