Hey guys,

Anyone have any recommendations for a scope on a .30-06?

Looking at the vortex diamondback 3x9 right now, looking for a good scope under $250

You can't beat the Vortex warranty, that's what I would buy.

I would look at a prostaff before a diamond back.

Look at the Leupold rifleman or Leupold VX1.... I had a VX1 on an older 30.06
For years and it was bullet proof. They are about $250 to $300... Wholesale has sales on optics all the time... Like 10-15% off.

While I am unclear of the specific price point of this scope, I would be interested in at least taking a look through a Leupold VX-II if in your position. There are several models I fancy including a smaller/lower profile VX-II that I would look into, dependant upon the specific 30-06 it would be paired with and the Hunts I intended to employ this rig on.

I'd recommend that you don't buy the cheapest scope....personally I'd buy an older used Leupold before dropping coin on a warranty.

They don't make buckmasters anymore. Likely a problem with those off shore parts.

I'm not sure what they are called now but I have 3 Bushnell elite 3200's. they sit on 25.06, 270 and 30.06. Have been dandy on all 3 comfortable to shoot in that 100-400 yard territory. I'm under 6 feet tall so eye relief is not a problem. At time of purchase they were around the $250 mark.

Vortex is great for the $$$. The zoom knob will be stiff. Get a scope in the 3-12 zoom range and 12 is nice off the bench for seeing holes in the paper.

You've found your scope, I've got the 3.5-10x50 Diamondback and have been very pleased with it. When I was shopping for it, I took it outside at Calgary WSS along with a Leupold VX2 - couldn't tell one from the other, except when I saw the price tags. It was near dusk at the time - I believe my eyes were the limiting factor, not the scopes.

Mine sits on a 7mm RM, so no worries on the Diamondback being sensitive to recoil, because it isn't.

My burris Fullfield ii 3x9 have been bombproof and I think I didn't pay more than 240$ for it. It is on a .308. I have some Vortex Bino and the warranty is good they do repair or replace without question but the best warranty is the one I don't have to use.

I do like my leopold scopes but you will have problems finding one at the 250$ price point.

Not as common as the Nikon vortex leupold scopes but the weaver classic line is good I prefer it my weaver v9 over the prostaff.hard to go wrong these days but vortex has less eye relief than most scopes in the same class.

I had a nikon prostaff 3-9 on my 22 mag. The objective lens came loose. I sent it back to nikon and a month later they sent me a new scope. In the 200 dollar range I don't think you can go wrong with a nikon.

Already voted for a Vortex or Buckmaster but I wouldn't be opposed to a Weaver K6 fixed 6power scope either. I have a 4x Weaver and its one of my favorite scopes!

I think the Redfield revolution scopes are the best budget scopes out - owned and built by Leupold. Life time warranty as well.

you can get a 4-12x40 redfield for right around $250-$300.

You will be happy with the Vortex for the money. It's no zeiss in my opinion, but they start at $600.00 I believe.

Burris FFII. It started its life as my inline ML scope, now it sits on my 300 Win ABolt (with a 22-250 and 270 Win in between). Rock solid & economical.
