Default Leupold CDS issues .... resolved

Hopefully someone on here has dealt with this issue. A google search didn't come up with much.

I have a few Leupold scopes that have CDS dials. Most are older VX2 models. I had one 'free' custom CDS dial still available so I finally got around to ordering it.

When I installed the dial on my VX2 scope, the dial was very difficult to turn. Something was binding.

A quick inspection shows that the new dial (on left) is taller than the old dial. I believe that this is what is causing the dial to bind.

I could shorten the dial by removing material from the bottom. Or....
A washer placed inside the dial would raise it up so that it won't bind.

I could keep using the MOA dial, but the 'free' custom dial isn't really free so I would like to use it.

Anyone dealt with this and have a solution that works?

Have you spoken to Korth about the issue?

First thing I’d do is contact Leupold before I start cutting away modifying the cap. Guaranteed you do that and they won’t take it back.

Default Resolved ...... kind of.

Got in touch with Korth. The tech new exactly what I was talking about. Here's what he said.

The dial is supposed to sit on top of the silver piece, indicated with the red line, and then tightened.
There is a rubber gasket on the older scopes, like my VX2, that does not exist on new scopes. The green line points to the rubber gasket.

The new dials are slightly longer and are intended to fit on scopes that don't have the rubber gasket.
He said to remove the gasket and install the new dial.

Good to know they have a solution. I also ordered a new dial for me VX3i 3.5x10. I encountered the same issue. I will check this out tonight to see if it will work!

I ordered mine in July, it came in the mail in just under 4 weeks. They also had the 4-6 week turn around message on their website back then as well.

Good thing you didn't grind the cap down.
