Default Active shooter in Maine. 22 killed so far 50-60 injured.

Sounds like he has military training and that he is nuts.

Fox News? Can we believe it?
I hope they don’t kill him. Let him rot in jail. Death is to good.

And now the Turd will be chomping at the bit to enact more ridiculous anti gun legislation…

And……. Now they have a reason to try and tighten the firearms legislation again. A few things tabled in the last couple years have been rejected. So, welcome to the show active shooter. Lets make change together.
I don’t know how far fetched that scenario is, or really what to believe e or even why. I hurt for the families, but I fear it may be the same outcome as the Las Vegas shooter. Found dead, no explanation, no closure.
Sad

In case anyone cares, this was buried in the last paragraph of the article.

“Card also recently reported mental health issues, including hearing voices, and allegedly made threats to shoot up the National Guard base in Maine, according to the bulletin which cited law enforcement.“

And once again the cause is known mental health issues, that were not dealt with.

They should start charging these people in the know with murder.

Default Mental health and guns

Mental illness unlike an infection has no known cause or cure. Psychiatry has not had it's Louis Pasteur yet with his germ theory of disease (IMO). Thus politicians aren't left with many options, if you can't cure the mentally ill, locking them up the dangerous with the timid was the last century's solution. That had a lot of innocent victims too.

If the people (voters) don't want the mentally ill, if the voices tell them to kill , to have the means available to do so. More gun control is going to come from this in both Canada and the U.S.

If you can think of other solutions now would be a good time to place them on here, before things get worse.

The victims families have my most sincere sympathy.

I saw on X that the perp was also a registered sex offender thus making it illegal for him to own firearms.

This is exactly the problem. Gun control is a solution dreamed up to appease the public so real problems don’t have to be dealt with.

I just don't understand this . People have mental health issues and they don't have to give up their their guns or Pal licence at all.
If its not a bad mental health issue they should at least have to surrender all to a friend or relative just for safe keeping until its all approved they can keep guns again .

Seems like something seriously wrong in Maine. They report this is the 36th mass killing this year.

I think that's misrepresented or you read that wrong.

Maybe only 36 murders total in the state so far this year?

2022 Maine had 29 total for the year, 10 year average is 22.

It's quite a nice place down there.

Something seriously wrong in the US, call it mental illness, but it's an epidemic. Apparently, the American Dream has soured.

Nothing fake about it, plenty of real drama created when 22 families lose a loved one.

Huh ??? Never said it was fake. I was eluding to the fact Turd will be as opportunistic as possible..to his advantage over a horrible tragedy. Like Nova Scotia. Sorry it went over your head.

Yup went back and checked again. It is listed as the 8th one in the U.S. this year.
Guess I should have looked at the whole article.
My bad.

Inaccurate statements posted so far on page 1 of this thread

Number of mass murders in Maine this year (since corrected)
Suspect is registered sex offender based on comments on Twitter (X) https://apnews.com/article/fact-chec...d-563419203152
Maine borders Newfoundland ( no idea where that came from but ...no)

More to come.

Yep, just scrambling for a deflection for justification.

Thought US was well over 500 mass shootings so far this year. Their average was only 1 every day in past years. Not sure on Maine numbers.
