2023 grand Cherokee limited?
moved to town from country and don’t need my 2021 ford 1/2 ton xlt anymore,
a little too big for the garage and don’t need the box
wife has a Toyota highlander 2021 and we like it
looked at a 2023 4runner, Kia and a telluride and did not like them
looked at explorer and the 2924 might be ok but the 2023 don’t like but ok
so test drove a Hyundai palisade 2022 and did not like it
sales,an I have bought vehicles off of and he is pretty good
asked him about a dodge keep equivalent and he suggested the grand Cherokee and not the,Cherokee
don’t need the extras like rear screens for kids, moonroof, black appearance package, extra speakers and so on just the BASIC suv
they have a 2023 grand Cherokee limited and took it for a test drive
IMPRESSIVE
liked the seats, info screen, digital guage cluster, ride quality, acceleration and so on
was not even considering a keep or dodge because older stuff in the small suv was basics.ly junk from a few friends that had them, the cheaper models
this has the black appearance package and the extra speakers for 6200 plus gst cash msrp is 69425. (msrp means nothing to me)
just a way better driving car, nice visibility better than any I have driven or rented on the last 16 months
am I nuts to go with a grand Cherokee and need to be committed?
also I dislike turbos in a 2 or a 3.5 litre vehicle
This has the 6 cylinder pentastar v 6 (the old minivan engine?)
so what say you
and please all those who hate me and say buy it to get even please refrain I am going through withdrawals on the pickup as it is, owned a pickup since 1976 new all the time
anyway have fun with this as I need input as to reliability and such
might own it for 3-6 years
if more than 3 might get the extended warranty offered by keep?
thanks in advance
I think

I wouldn’t give up my pick up even if it was a dodge or ford.

Buy what ever blows your skirt up. Nothing worse than settling for second choice because you hear something negative. most vehicles are pretty good these days, for every horror story there's 10 people who have nothing but good to say but you never hear those reviews.

Better to stick with the brand even the meth heads don't steal.

Whether I like you or not, I would respect you enough to suggest you wait until the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is here.
2.4 Litre hybrid that can pull 6,000#. About 320 foot pounds of torque.
Depending on the model, it has a lockable rear and front diff.
Control arms delink for hill climbing and deep ruts.
Have a look. It probably will be the last SUV you buy.
Or, for that money buy a Honda CRV.

I can't comment on the newer WL series (2021+) Grand Cherokees, but I've put 185K on a previous generation WK2 model with the 3.6 Pentastar motor. It has been great, practically bullet proof.
We were looking at several Toyota models at the same time. They couldn't offer any options for the passenger seating, so the Grand Cherokee Limited with heated/cooled, 6 way power passenger seat with lumbar support won out. The wife has been extremely happy with it. And somewhere I have a photo of it parked at Margaret Lake (Waiparous valley offroad area) covered in mud.
Dean2 bought one a few years ago,. Last time he mentioned it on here he was happy with it. Although, he bought the go-faster Hemi model.

I have a 2023 Grand Cherokee Summit. Its the wifes vehicle.
We bought it new in March 2023. Its super comfy, quiet and is great to drive. it does everything we need it to, and the dog gets the whole cargo area to himself.
The adaptive cruise is awesome, basically dont have to do anything but hold the wheel, itll keep the vehicle centered between the lines like its on railroad tracks, you also dont even need to turn on the highways, it does it for you. Its great for looking for game haha.
We bought weathertech mats, cargo liner and mud flaps for it after we picked it up.
The air suspension is pretty neat, lowers down a bit over 80kmh to get more aerodynamic, and lowers itself right down when you park so its easier to get in and out.
Power is good with the V6, doesnt need anymore.
She came from a 2008 regular cab short box 4.8L chevy with roll up windows. The jeep is a space ship compared to that truck. She really needed a back seat for the dog and didnt need a truck since I have one already. The Grand Cherokee checked all the boxes.

We went with a VW Atlas TOL, at least 10K lower priced than the Grand Cherokee.
A few years back we owned a Grand Cherokee and really liked it, and we would have gotten another except they are overpriced right now.

Funny, I thought this as soon as I saw this thread. I think Toyota is looking to make their pricing more reasonable with the new models as well.

This is what I think as well. Especially if he doesn't need the specific off-road capabilities of the Land Cruiser.

I see a lot of those around, and being a longtime fan of Vee-Dubs, I'm intruigued. How are you liking it? How's the maintenance, comfort etc.?

Grand Cherokee
My wifes last Grande Cherokee 2001 went 400km with only fan relay and fuel pump repair. She has 2019 Grand Cherokee now and we would not consider to buy any of the non north american junk. This vehicle will go anywhere a pickup truck will go. Fuel milage in 6 cylinder Penstar is excellent can get 8 liter per 100km, lots of power with 8 speed. Laredo Only cost $39k new.

So what do you consider non North American junk, given that companies like Honda and Toyota manufacture vehicles in Canada and the USA, while some of the big three vehicles are manufactured in Mexico?

ok let me think
——. the steering wheel seems bare not luxurious at all much like the Highlander
——- the gas pedal needs to be over 1/2 way down to go about 50 kms an hour, and then when you go to push the pedal to the floor it is only an inch or so, weird
——— the left arm position on both the top (near the window) and the bottom armrest were not where I need them to be
———- the right arm does not sit well on the counsole
———. the steering wheel WAS REALLY HARD TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH WHILE DRIVING and yet while parked or at 2 mph very easy to move back and forth
did not seem to have settings to change
——— boring instrument cluster
———- nice seats though
there were more items but that is what I remember tonight

at 125pm we ended the arm wrestle and agreed on a price for a white one
he said there were others dealing on this car
asked him what are the chances they sign a deal before I come back from the last test drive in the Wally world parking lot to confirm visability and have a bite to eat and then give him a deposit as we agreed to pay X amount difference and shook hands
just then a other sales guy came in with a deposit check on the white car
Oh well
so changed to dark grey
not much in alberta to be found with my options only
ok how about silver which is really light grey and not the dodge bright silver of old
so try again tomorrow
dealing with 3 other sales an in other cities to get a number on my trade to make sure nit getting low balled
life is difficult when little stock and sales an not knowing what options come with a vehicle. example the 22 E package luxury tech group II is what is a deal breaker and 2 of them said it was only offered in 2022
bet 2 buys it appears on the 23 and 24 build and price, both won’t pay up
and on the 2024 when ticking the box for that option the moon roof comes up for 2100 or so and cannot remove it so the tech group II is really about 4 grand for 2024
and almost all of the websites don’t have the window stickers or have false pictures on them even though in stock so you must call to confirm options
have had 5 occasions where the salesman lied and we had to go to the window sticker and price and build to confirm what options were on that vehicle as website was wrong and the sales guy said it was right without checking
so maybe tomorrow and maybe not
Looks like a grand Cherokee might be in the future for me

We've only owned it for a few months so the maintenance is non existent at this time. Of course we like it, it kind of out shone everything else that we test drove. Some of it's competitors just had the cheap plastic interior and sub par suspension. We Have gone on a few longer trips and it was using 10L/100k, and even fully loaded it came in at least 10K less expensive than the Grand Cherokee.

got the limited trim and it is at home
fits the bill for me, glad we did the deal
after doing the dealership dance with the local dodge stealership and getting them down 4100 thought we had a deal but there was a couple in the finance department who put a deposit on the white one they had
oh well the dealership said it was not meant to be
so went to red deer go auto dodge and bought a grey one ( liked it better)
got it from Winnipeg, new, and 1500 to get it here, had 4 g more options, plus PPF for a grand
so 6500 more but I only paid 2500 more so saved 4 grand
I guess it was meant to be
so much for shopping local
I am happy and thanks,
a friend
