Question Hornady Monoflex

Anybody try these bullets or loaded ammunition from Hornady. Just curious on any field reports or groupings or general impressions. I believe they offer a 140 grain 30-30 round and a 250 grain 45-70 round. Any info or thoughts welcome

The 160 grain factory load chronied on average 2230 fps out of my 20" 336 Marlin .30-.30. It grouped badly at 2 - 2.5". Also those rubbery tipped bullets distort if left in the tubular magazine for the duration of the day. I have yet to find a factory .30-.30 load that shoots better than the handload of IMR 3031 and Speer 170 grain bullet I shoot. The hype didn't measure up for me....

Default Monoflex or FTX

The lead core FTX is offered in 160 but I'm not sure they offer anything besides 140 grain in 30-30. (Monoflex is all copper but has the same flex tip)

Hit the American levergunners forums for your research. Everyone here is all about the whizbang bolt action stuff for the most part...

Default Research

Always good to hear from people in your own geographical area. I will however look up your suggested website. Thanks
