Default Lakeland Lunker Pike Hotspots

If you're looking for a spot to catch a monster pike look no further than Alberta s Lakeland region. The Lakeland has many excellent pike lakes that are often overlooked by anglers pursuing more prestigious species such as walleye or lake trout. But, if you want non stop action for hard fighting big fish, give pike a try. Marie Lake is a hidden big pike hotspot within a short drive from the City of Cold Lake. Although recently changed to a 0 limit, the lake holds some true giants surpassing the 20lb. mark. The lake offers classic pike structure with the many deep weed beds which is the best location to catch a lunker. Large muskie type crankbaits and inline spinners produce the biggest fish when quickly retrieved just above the top of the weeds. The weed beds can be hard to find but with the help of sonar and a GPS, anglers will have these locations all to themselves as most fisherman target walleye on this lake and overlook this trophy pike fishery. Confirmed reports of a 33lb. monster that was caught last summer proves it. A short drive from the community of Glendon lies one of Alberta's most famous trophy pike fisheries; Siebert Lake. Siebert offers deep weed beds mixed with fertile water that creates the perfect environment to grow pike of trophy size that all anglers dream of. The edges of the sunken island on the north side of the lake is a constant producer of trophy pike year round with the 5 of diamond spoon along with large spinner baits being the best lures to entice these toothy monsters. Make sure to use heavy line and strong leaders as these fish tend to burrow in the weeds when hooked. Cold Lake is another lake that most anglers overlook as a trophy pike fishery due to its excellent lake trout fishing but more and more people are discovering this awesome untapped fishery. Trolling cisco kids is the method of choice for catching the many pike that swim in this wonderful lake. Anglers can start trolling right out front of the Cold Lake marina and continue along the shoreline catching lunker pike and enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. The best part of this kind of fishing is the bonus walleye and lake trout you will catch and, on a hot day, a quick swim on one of the many scenic sandy beaches will make a day to remember. Always check the Alberta Fishing Regulations for size limits and closures. Come out to Alberta's Lakeland for the day and stay for a lifetime .
