7mm Rem Mag Sample Pack

I bought a Tikka T3 7mm Rem Mag and want to try different factory loads so that I know which ammo works best for me. I dont want to spend my money and time on reloading.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy sampler pack for 7mm Remi? All I see is .270 sampler packs.

Didn't even know they made sampler packs, learn something everyday. My T3 7mm shoots Federal Blue box 150g spitzers Moa, better most days. Haven't tried anything else as I shoot my 300 usually. I'd say select the ammo for the application and shoot it, I bet the rifle will do fine. For big game I really like the TSX or TTSX mono's from Barnes, but I reload. More details required, ie moose/elk, only deer, all open country and long range? That gun will shoot a pile of ammo into tiny groups. You don't pick a hunting cartridge based on group size.

I have seen sample packs of bullets, but not loaded ammunition for centerfire cartridges. I wonder if the OP is confusing bullets and loaded ammunition?

As for your question, guns are like women. They are all different and each has their own mind. Trial and error my friend.

If you are a hunter, my guess is that any factory ammo you choose with that rifle will do what is necessary accuracy wise.

Would you mind providing a link to the Sample Packs? I have never seen factory load sample packs. Sounds quite useful and interesting.

As for what your gun may like best. Your guess is as good as anybody's really. If minute of deer is all you are looking for, any factory ammo will (most likely) work for you.

OP, here is some advice that will serve you well on forums, particularly when you are asking questions...

Bullet = Projectile that leaves barrel and goes to point of aim

Ammunition = Loaded round consisting of brass, primer, powder and bullet

I am not a terminology Nazi like some, but it can cause confusion as in this case.

The only “sampler packs” on ammunition that I know of are put together buy the shop them selves, and it’s only for 22lr.

While it’s a good idea, I can’t see it being easy to orchestrate base on the sheer number of cartridges and bullet weights, and manufacturers, and bullet selection, etc.

These are the same samples I have seen before and they are useful. Would be interesting to see factory loaded "variety packs". Seems as though this is what he was referring. He was wanting to shoot factory ammunition and not spending time/money reloading.

I think yourself and Sns2 are likely correct on the mix up of terms, and what he is referring to is the bullets themselves.

I believe that the OP saw the word "bullets" on the sampler, and assumed that they were factory loads. This could simply be a case of a person being confused, because he uses incorrect terminology, when referring to loaded ammunition. Just another reason for using the correct terminology.

Sounds like you're going to be hunting with this rifle more than target shooting (if target was your main goal, you should revisit loading/reloading).

Virtually all factory ammo will shoot just fine for hunting applications. I'd suggest focusing your efforts on choosing a bullet which best suits your quarry and less on minimizing your groups. In short, go buy a few boxes of whatever has 165 grain Nosler Partitions in it and be done with it.

Go find a box of Winchester Super X soft point in175 grain. Any of the Tikka 7mm RM I have used and seen this was very accurate. Was a bit disappointing as I reload. It took quite a bit of playing to find anything comparable.

My Tikka liked 160gr Winchester ammo.
I now shoot 145gr hand loads for nice, tight groups.

As far as actual ammunition selection goes, a load using pretty much any controlled expansion bullet from 140-160 grains will work fine for any big game in Alberta. Most will shoot 1-1/2 moa or better, in pretty much any decent rifle, which is adequate for hunting out to 400-500 yards.
