Default Alberta Parks. Minor changes could create big impacts.

This is an interesting read that Albertans should understand are happening regarding our parks and public lands. Worthy of discussion.

Love that more ATV trails are re-opening and new ones are being developed under the UCP. The south is far too restrictive as it is. Carry on.

One does not have to look far in their site to figure out what they are.

Excellent to see the government making efforts to improve accessibility to the backwoods for everyone instead of shutting everything down and leaving it only for the granola crunchers. As part of a snowmobile club, I’m excited for what these changes will mean for new trail opportunities.

yes doesn't sound that bad at all, about time access was opened up, designated trails is a good idea, right now there is no access to the older crowd, as they are unable to walk into the back country now! way to many tracts of land closed off to access.

Time to pull the Monster out from under the Bed.

In 1992 Premier Don Getty was BUSY building camp grounds around Alberta. Pigeon Lake, Cross Lake, both were first class facilities with more to come.

Why is that Important? Back then Alberta was sitting at just over 2 Million Citizens.

Then Ralph Klien came along and shut down all the projects. For years Calling Lake had 14 Camp Sites. It had the Sani Station, the Parking Lot, the overflow, the start of the bathrooms, and that is where things stayed for decades.

Lakeland Provincial Park was to have been developed into the "Kananaskis of the North" complete with Golf Course.

None of that happened. In fact, alot of smaller Provincial Recreation Areas were closed.

Big Deal you say??? Wellllll try and get a Campground Site in the Summer, now that we have 4.5 Million People.

People want to go camping, but there are no facilities. People want to go trail riding, but there are no trails. Well, you get the picture.

I applaud Daniel Smith if she is willing to finish off these projects so that there are more opportunities in Alberta for the average Albertan to go camping and trail riding.

Designated trails will in fact focus the impact and reduce the abuse suffered by sensitive areas by ATV and Off Road vehicle use.

There is no reason that people have to be paying $100 a night at Wilderness Village because Crimson Lake Provincial Park has not been improved or expanded.

Areas like Brazeau Reservoir could be developed for camping as well as other recreation, and end the random campers on crown land problem.

So you see Virginia, there is no monster under the bed.

i would have to agree, same goes for hunting and fishing, double the people going after the same amount of game or fish, leaves very little oportunity for anyone.
i loike designated trails, caught off trail or on trail you are not supposed to be on, good by sled, atv, truck, dirtbike, horse.!
