Default Scope Problem???

Hi Guys,
My lovely wife bought me new Ruger 10/22 with Bushnell scope for my birthday. Very thoughtful and wonderful gift. I took it out yesterday and it appeared to be shooting high and right. I took off the turret covers and adjusted the scope. Shot again and it still shot high and right. I turned the little dials even more and still high and right. I then turned the dials the back other direction the same amount of clicks as I had turned them originally, so back to where it was and then turned them that much again. Guess what? It shot high and right. I'm either very adept at shooting high and right or I have a scope issue. Has anyone else encountered this? The adjustments on the scope seem to have no effect whatsoever to where the gun shoots.

How far were you shooting, and how many clicks did you move the scope? At 25 yards, it normally requires 16 clicks to move the point of impact one inch.

Maybe it's an old wive's tale, but some scope reticles need a bit of encouragement to register the change you want. Try tapping the turret or scope tube near the turret with something like a heavy felt marker pen.
I've cured a few sluggish low cost scopes that way.
