Default P&D Enterprises

Went over there today, as it’s been a while since I shopped there.
The store is still awesome, but getting over to the store was about a frustrating as can be, construction and detours all around the store, and now paid parking on the street.
Edmonton is a write off to me, and sorry Phil and Diane, it’ll be quite some time before I head your way again.

Edmonton and its roads and traffic, pretty much exceed the limits of my medications.

And I grew up in Edmonton and learned to drive there!

If you park on same side of road as the store, parking is still free. Rest of the area went paidparking because of the University.

I avoid P&D, because I hate the location so much.

Haven't stopped by there for some time now but the last time I was there it was a struggle just to get to them, I just had my 3 month appointment at the Cross at 8:00 this morning, drove from the kids house in Stony Plain in rush hour traffic and yes once every 3 months is plenty for me, between the construction and the idiots I had my fill again. I lived in Edmonton and surrounding area for 26 years but absolutely could never move back there.

I’ve always said; Edmonton is a decent place to earn a living…..and a great place to dump your garbage!

I left that cesspool in 1999, never to return.

Not anymore. Was there last week

There is still free parking around but the area is steadily getting worse with drug addicts and other unsavory types. The traffic is the same as it has always been, miserable.

Great store though. I picked up some supplies the were half the cost of what cabelas has jacked their prices to. Would be nice to see them relocate to a better spot but I’m glad they’re still around. We’ve lost too many good shops.

Haven't been there for about a month. Wonder if I missed the paid parking sign or if it is that new.

Too bad, will be hard on P&D's business. Paid parking has killed the businesses downtown. Between the rampant theft, all the Zombies walking around, no parking, and what you can find is expensive, over half the store fronts are closed up. Extending paid parking further out is just more proof that the Administration fails to learn from past failures, which doesn't surprise me really given the boundless stupidity and greed of the City Administration.

Not only won't I live in Edmonton, I try to not even go there to shop or do anything else. The place has become the spot you plug in the Colonoscopy tube.

there are no 'free" parking spots the last time I was there, about a month ago but if you feed your licence plate to the parking meter you can opt for 15 free minutes and a loonie gets you an hour I think. if people avoid shopping at P&D it will be just that much harder for them to stay in business. great little store and friendly staff that were always quick to help find what I was looking for. the parking charges weren't added because of suggestions from any business on that street, don't take it out on them.

Agree completely. I will still shop at P&D to support them. They and a few others are an exception to my Edmonton boycott. They have been a long time strong store that is well managed and well stocked. Not all that many businesses in Edmonton I would say that about.

WE can't afford to lose places like that, so I will put up with the traffic and paid parking, hopefully lots of others will too. I think if Dennis and Diane were younger they might seriously consider moving. St Albert and Sherwood Park would be great options, but at their age I doubt that is in the cards.

I was there on august 29, we didn’t have to pay for parking, at least I never saw any parking meters,
My boys girlfriend bought a 243 rifle when we were there , always helpful people, in there. Don’t get to Edmonton very often, but try to stop in whenever I’m there.
It usually cost me if I stop there, this time I kept my hands in my pockets. -for once.

Also just fyi for everyone the parking enforcement guy basically lives on that street so don’t chance it. I’ve seen him 3/3 times in the last couple weeks.

Even though I don’t live in Alberta, every time we visit family in Cardiff, I make it a point to visit P & D. Paid parking won’t even slow me down, it’s mice nuts in the grand scheme of things. It’s a great store worth shopping at.

PnD never had any good sales or deals. Prices are as high as they get too.

Sometimes P&D has way better prices than Cabelas.

At any gun show I’ve attended with them there they are the best table of any retailer there. I’ve bought ammo from them that was considerably cheaper than what others where selling it for at the same show

That is so far from accurate it isn't even funny. They have often had excellent pricing on stuff. I have bought a ton of components, particularly bullets that were FAR cheaper than anyone else. Same is true of higher end 22 rf ammo. Got some very good deals on scopes and guns, used and new. Are they always the cheapest, no, but to say they never offer good deals is just wrong.

Although I rarely shop there because of the location, I have found a few good deals. I bought a shotgun there that was old stock, and the price was just as old, they didn't increase it as some stores do.

Don't often get the chance to go there, but I sure enjoy visiting the store when I do.

Prefer to shop local when I can. Sights & Arms in St. Albert is a great shop too.

Default after another bad exp

Im deff not a P&D suporter,I went into the store a few times and never caught a sale, but i talked to a gent on the counter, then called to confirm they had the correct bi-pod for a buddy that lives hrs & hrs away. After being told they had the exact bi-pod I told my bud its worth the drive.100% wrong bi-pod and wasted a complet day of travel plus expenses. If i go to P&D for anything its deff the last resort and no one has it,I woul rather pay shipping and getvthe awesome staff at Prophet river my buisness.

I have found better prices at tundra and prophet river personally.

To each their own.

Moving to a more customer friendly location would be a sound business move.

IIRC, I was told by an employee that Phil and Dianne own the building. I don’t see a move anytime soon. They do a great business as is. They are not always the lowest price, but I for one an happy we have them as an option.

I agree, it is terrible to get to. Now paid parking? Heavy sigh.

P&D is quite often significantly less expensive than Cabelas.

Unless they have a sale, Cabelas seldom has the lowest prices.
