Thanks for the info. Is there a study guide somewhere that I should read before doing it?

It's been a few years since I got mine, but if I remember correctly it's basically an open book exam. Pretty easy.

Its pretty easy - there is a 3 hour online course and an open book multiple choice exam at the end.

The boating license never expires - is good for life.

Has anyone ever been asked for their boaters licence in Alberta ?
I never have since it came out.
What is the fine if you don't have one ?

If I have my licence ,can i let some one with out one drive my boat if i am in the boat ?

I find it silly if you rent a boat ,you don't need one .

I've been asked a few times renting boats out on Vancouver Island, but never in Alberta.

After they brought in the license the first time I was checked on the water by the F&W I asked if she wanted to see my boating license. She literally laughed and said no she didn’t.

Boating license is federal therefore F&W don't care and wont ask for it. If you are checked by the RCMP on the lake then they may ask for it, but the only 2 times I have been checked by them all they cared about was safety equipment and booze in the boat.

I skimmed through a booklet at a trade show for 15 minutes or so, then challenged the test, and passed. I was actually surprised by how easy the test was.

The cheapest way to get one is to print off your own I'd imagine.
