Default Open water in central Alberta

Hoping to take the family out this weekend if the weather stays this nice. Just wondering how far we'll have to travel from Red Deer to find open water. Stocked pond, river or lake it doesn't matter to us, as long as we can cast a lure. Although we do have a canoe if there's a place we could use it.

Flew into red deer yesterday and Sylvan and Gull were still iced over.

Down by Calgary now and it seems everything is open.

Thanks for the reply. Any spots in particular you'd recommend checking out?

Does anyone know if Phyliss or Strubel are ice free yet?

Not sure about Phylis or Strubel but another thread was mentioning close by Beaver lake being half open.
