Default PCP Air rifles - who uses them?

Anyone out there use pre charged pneumatic (PCP) air rifles? I'm interested to know what your experiences are with them and what you use for a compressor to charge these things (accuracy, reliability of compressor, time to charge, etc).

I'm considering buying a 22 cal version to take care of rodents on an acreage and for plinking fun.

Thanks in advance.

Default PCP Air Rifles

I've been using a couple of .22 calibre PCP rifles over the summer and certainly enjoying them. I've been doing pigeon control mainly and taking them off grain bins and wires as far as 50 - 60 yds.

As for charging the onboard air tanks, I can recommend the HILL hand pump. It's pricier than the Chinese made ones but worth the extra money. I've gone through two of the Chinese ones (they both came with the air rifles in package deals). I rebuilt them but could see the writing on the wall, so now they are backup pumps, and the HILL sees regular use. It's made in England and far better quality.

What brands do you guys recommend? I been thinking about one for a while but really haven't researched....would be interested in higher quality versus "budget" rifles......

Always owned higher end springers like Weihrauch.
Several years ago I decided to try a PCP and was absolutely stunned by the performance and accuracy.
I used a hand pump and still recommend them if you're not shooting more than 50-100 pellets on any given day. However once you start getting to the rifles with larger capacity tanks then a compressor is the way to go but they are pricey.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Air Venturi Avenger as a solid choice for a rifle. It is extremely accurate and consistent in its groupings and can be tuned to handle pretty much anything you want ( check out the many videos on YouTube).
For a compressor I went with the JTS Comp 1 and have been happy with it so far.
Check out AirGunArcheryFun. I found Wes to be great to deal with.

I have a couple, I enjoy shooting them but I use a hill mk4 pump and a 215 cc tank is a work out when you’re only getting about 20 shots per full charge.

The budget rifles have come a long way over the years, which is great as good ones run you over $1500 now

I have been using them for few years and now and I got in 22, 25 and 30 calibers. Mine are all made by FX company and these are ultimately accurate and powerful.

I drop pigeons from top of the barn at 140 yards whole day long and send my dog to retrieve them.

$3000 for the gun only, $3000 for the NF scope on it, $1000 for the air tank $1000 for the compressor.

So darn each pigeon I shoot average me a hundred dollar bill

Best place to buy these in Canada is called Airgun Source Canada
