Default Anyone Still Boating This Late in the Season?

Anyone still taking their boats out?

I am squeezing in one for sure, possibly two last outings with my 14' aluminium before the freeze up. Want to get some fishing in.

Curious if anyone else is still out on the water. 🤔

The odd boat is still hitting the waters around here.

I was out at Travers last Sunday. Good fishing in the morning. Had to leave early due to a chinook windstorm.

We've been out twice this week. Cold, but great days fishing.

My jetboat sees the majority of its hours in September and October every year....no crowds and big fish lurking.

Fished KEHO yesterday.

Cold but little wind. Only boat on the lake fishn was slow but caught a few hogs. Nothing within the keepable range. Smallest for the day was 47cm and all the rest were all over 55cm

Lake is nice and full but rocks around the launch are dangerously slippery

That was my last trip until the ice shows up.

Good to hear others are also still venturing out!
TROLLER:
Sounds like a solid last trip, even if they weren’t keepers. Thanks for the heads-up on the slippery conditions.

Jamie Black R/T:
Smart way to avoid the crowds! Fall fishing is definitely worth braving the cold.

Samik:
Glad to hear you had a couple good days out there! Cold doesn’t seem to bother the fish much. Doesn’t bother me much either.

ragweed:
Nothing like a good morning bite! Too bad about the wind—chinooks can really turn things around fast.

58thecat:
Good to know! I’ll keep an eye out for a few more opportunities before the ice takes over.
Didn’t make it out today as I’d hoped, due to some health obstacles. Still aiming to get out at least once more before the ice starts forming.

Cheers,

I am usually out until at least the end of Oct. Last year my last day on the water was November 18th. I have been wanting to be out the last 2 weekends but Southern Alberta wind is saying otherwise, and it's looking pretty chilly this weekend with a high of only 3 and 4 degrees. If its not nice enough to be out Nov 9-11 the boat will be put away to hibernate.

Warm and glass calm in Southern Alberta this afternoon. Only 2 boats on the entire lake.

sdvc and I had took his jonboat for a little spin a few days back, the next day he had ice around it, things were freezing fast on the Athabasca and Clearwater.
Locked up solid for the season now.

Good to hear some of you are still venturing out!

Woke up to a light dusting in my neck of the woods, but I may attempt one more outing with the boat this Friday myself.

If the wind stays down, I will also be out there.

Hey fellow anglers, have any of you been out recently and noticed if the boat launches around Edmonton are icing up?

I haven't made it out yet due to health hurdles and other priorities, but having a better few days, and I think some fishing is in order. Might take my tinner out for some late-season whitefish action at either Pigeon, Ste Anne, La Nonne, or Wabamun.

Any updates on launch conditions would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

The Anvil
