Homemade scent killer question
Hi!
I've been looking for recipes to make some scent killer. All those I found include peroxide and as far as I know peroxide turns into water and oxygen when exposed to light.
So this brings a few question for those who have made such mixture:
-can light go through your bottle?
-What do you think the shelf/life time of your mix might be?

Try just snapping off a branch from a spruce tree and throwing it in with your hunting gear in a Rubbermaid bin. You will smell just like a tree. Just try it

Are you trying to fool the nose of an animal that makes it's living with it's nose?
Ever seen a drug sniffing dog find contraband in a drum of diesel? He does it for a treat.

To fool an animal that makes it's living with it's nose? No.... I don't think I can do that. But if I can help my chances a tiny little bit here an there well why not.

I wish you luck with that, but personally I think scent control stinks.
I have had coyotes and wolves come from downwind of me to within 3 feet, in the case of coyotes. On the other hand I've had a coyote 'bust' me at 300+ yards when he hit my scent cone.
If it works for you, by all means go for it.

Scent killer
The question wasn't "do you believe in scent control?"
I made a jug of homemade stuff this year but it doesn't work as well as the commercially made one. I test scent killers by rubbing garlic on my hands, if I spray it on and the scent is eliminated I consider it "good." My wife bought a gallon of natures miracle scent eliminator from the pet store. It's way cheaper than the hunting stuff, but does have a light citrus scent.
If I can remove 20 percent of my scent it "might" allow me to get 20% closer to game. I know and so does everyone that it's impossible to eliminate all scent and we can't totally fool a deers nose but every little thing helps.

Tree branch works... also if your near a cow field which most are blend in... roll in dirt the field you might want to avoid the fresh pies.

Campfire smoke....aboriginals on 6 continents have used during pre-hunt rituals for millenniae. It produces carbon to help eliminate scent, and also masks our scent with a natural smell that animals are accustomed to encountering....distant forest fires, camp fires etc generally are no cause for alarm.

I made my own homemade scent blocker (actually scent substitute) and it worked great during bow season.
