Hello All, I will be around dinosaur provincial park around thanks giving October 9 ish.
I imagine there is decent bird hunting around there through out the river valley. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the upland and waterfowl in this area during that time of year. Any local/ regular advise would be awesome.
Not asking for someone to hold my hand and give away all the secrets so please don't jump on that train. I do understand scouting and putting time in but its a new area to me that fate will be taking me too and I was going to attempt to capitalize with a bit of bird hunting for me, my pup and a good friend.

Not in the park obviously. I am talking about the Surrounding Area.
I am well aware of the Regs.
If you put in the time scouting, there are pheasant, gray partridge, and sharptail to be had in many spots within 50 miles of the park. The key is the scouting. I've hunted the area for over 40 years, and I am still learning. Spots that had been good for a decade suddenly dried up. Found out it was due to the landowner spraying for hoppers.
Restricted Rivers
Hunting of migratory game birds on the following rivers, over any islands in these rivers or within 91 m (100 yards) of the edge of the waters of these rivers is prohibited until November 1:
Bow River downstream from the corporate limits of the City of Calgary to Highway 24.
Little Smoky River downstream from Highway 43.
Peace River.
Red Deer River downstream from the corporate limits of the City of Red Deer.
Smoky River downstream from the mouth of the Wapiti River.
South Saskatchewan River downstream from the corporate limits of the City of Medicine Hat.
we encountered some very wild pheasants in the river bottoms flushing at often 60-100 yards from us while stalking whitetails. Decided it wasnt worth carrying or firing a shotgun wtihin 100 meters of the rivers edge and the pheasants seem to know they were safe in the bottoms and never ventured up the coulees.

We figured we could hunt pheasants in the bottoms within 100 metres of the river but didnt chance being questioned as there was a crew set up on an island who appeared to be pass shooting ducks. We had permission from the land owner on south side but suspect these guys came in from the north as the island was closer to north side. Didnt want to get blamed for the duck hunting if it became an issue.
