Default Tossed Salad Anyone?

Well yesterday the weather hit mid 20’s, clear skies, slight breeze which was simply awesome until the freakin weatherman was right. 34 click winds gusting to 52 ish…well I was on the wrong side of the lake, again.
Nose into the whitecaps and twenty minutes later made it to the leeward side to salvage a gator slaying type day.
The Old Town Sportman 120 PDL handled the waves easily with all water that broke over and lots did was drained out immediately. Truly amazed at what this kayak can handle regarding stability etc.
Initially was going to fish a bigger body of water but it was already nautical so opted for plan B.
Draw back was smaller gators but fishing is fishing.
Once I got on the fishable side of the lake it was on, axe handles galore, skinny and now I know why they eat salad! Lots of it too….lol.
Fall is a great time to go after gators, lakes are turning and getting murky so something with a silver flash, lots of vibration, spinning etc so out came
the 5” Lucky Strike Canoe Wobbler spoon in pearl 1 dot which simply is a gator slayer type spoon for murky conditions.
5hrs later and a lot of tossed salad mixed in with pike was on the menu plus the fall colours made for a great day on the water.

Calm side of the lake on the prowl searching.

Not all eat salad some are meat eaters I guess? Fooled him!

Some just don’t share their salad and have a little hissy fit.

October hopefully will be chicken hunting in the morning, mid day pike, late afternoon finish off with some more chicken hunting.

Luv the fall time!!!

Always enjoy your pics! These remind me of many years ago of fishing the southern alberta reservoirs.
