early season deer tactics
Well, enough hanging out here on the forums....time to go hunting.
I'm going to sit in my stand dusk until dawn for the next 3 days.
I don't usually get in there this early in the season, so I'm wondering what tactics help out this time of year.
Right now my only "tactic" will be staying in the stand all darn day. This is very hard for me and my ADD, as I find it really tough to sit in the stand that long, and usually end up in a ground blind where I can move around a bit more etc.
That being said, I've mentally committed to sitting in the stand the whole day for the next 3 days.
I have no plans to do any bleats, grunts or rattling, and just see what happens by.
What are your thoughts and observations of hunting this early in the season?

I havnt scouted my area enough to sit in my stand all day I think I may climb to a high point where some logging has been done and try spot and stalk... It all depends on your location really.. But your tactics are as good as mine, that's why it's called hunting lol , hunt, search, wait, call, spot, stalk, track...hide and go seek really lol.

deer are likely to only be moving in the early and late day as well as night of course (full moon coming) especially with this heat mid day movement would likely be limited. That's just my 2 cents, you certainly wont shoot them at home so go get em! Best of luck.

Best of luck to you Happy. I don't think I could sit in a tree stand all day. Hope it doesn't rain on you. That would be miserable. Bring a good book to read.
I agree with a previous poster as to going out early mornings and evenings.

Yeah, I agree with early and late day movement, but I've also been successful at between 10 and 4 in that area, albeit later in the season.
The stand is in some pretty thick stuff so maybe heat won't be as much as a factor?
I'm mostly going to see if I can actually sit in the stand "all day".
I get one bar service when I'm in the stand (zero on the ground) so with my luck, I'll be on the forum on an NDP thread when the big one walks by, lol.
I just can't sit around the house this weekend, too much work to do around here!!
A far as the moon goes, yeah, darn, I always seem to get out when it's a full moon, but we'll see how it goes.
heading out in an hour, I'll sleep in the truck tonight, and be harnessed up and climbing by 5:45.
Too busy chasing teals with my lab next week, so looking forward to having my bow in my hands this weekend!

I'd look for their water source. This warm and dry will have them heading for a drink when they wake up late afternoon.
