Default New coyote rifle is ready to come home.

It’s been darn near two years, start to finish since this project began. Lots of waiting for parts to come in and whatnot. But, it’s done and will be in the mail soon enough.

Benchmark SS Barrel 1:11 finished @ 23” two tone Cerakote
Terminus Apollo 3 Lug Action
Grayboe Eagle Pro Stock
Grayboe M5 Floor Plate
Trigger Tech
204 Ruger Match Reamer used. “No Turn” neck and 0.015” free bore. No factory ammunition for this one.

Just in time for coyote forays. This will be my primary calling rifle. I paid for this build with fur put up in prior seasons. Now, its job is to be uber fur friendly as I harvest pelts for my Mushers Parka. Hopefully, I can hold off on bringing out the 6mmAI until I’ve got enough put up.

Not 100% on what I’ll top it with yet. Probably another Burris Signature though. I’ve come to really like the E3 reticle for predator pursuits.

Very cool. What are you planning to use for fur friendly bullets?

I’ve had the best success with 39gr Sierra bullets in my 204 along with Varget. 32 Hornady worked well too with rl15. I couldn’t get the 40gr Hornadys to stabilize in my factory barrel but you should have no trouble with that twist. Under 200 yds these 204 tear up a coyote pretty good, so don’t let them get too close. If only someone would make a hunting bullet for the 204….

I’ve killed an arse pile of coyotes with the 204. 35gr Berger was what I found to be the easiest on pelts. Mind you, I shot a pile of them with 39gr SBK and 40gr V-Max too. Easiest way to be fur friendly across the board is to try and shoot them head on or a hard quartering to. If you can get those little bullets going the long way, they are devastating and no exits.

OK, you have almost the exact same experience as me. Haven’t used the Vmax yet, but the other two many times. I was hoping for something new and improved. Although these days with the price of coyotes, I just shoot them with my seven mag and put up the ones that aren’t damaged.

I hear you. I figure I may as well do something with the fur though. Of the nicest ones anyway. If they aren’t worth much, I may as well purpose it in some beneficial manner.

Wow! That's sexy as hell, Boom Chop! I'm betting you'll get on the scoreboard with it a lot.

Thank you much fellas.

I’m actually not sure what the number is for weight. Will have to see when it arrives.

Smith was Dennis Lair in Saskatchewan. Go Ballistic is the name of his business. This is my first run doing a project with him. A good friend had a build done through him pretty recent, he actually just killed a big WT with it. Quality of work was very good on that rifle and it’s an excellent shooter. I expect this one will be no different.

It’s been a while for sure. I don't have any first hand experience with those pills. A friend of mine has picked some up but, yet to try them out.

Me too but the barrel has so many twists must be to shoot around objects blocking your target.

Thanks JD and Ed. It’s really looking like I could have another slower winter for work again. I’m done on Nov 1st and doesn’t look like anything major until March. If so, I’m going to really get after the buggers.

Looking good, I am a big fan of the .204 bores for coyotes, especially using the 39gr BK.

great looking rig.
you may want to consider a sightron stac in 3-16 with moa2 reticle.
very good glass for the price point not too gawdy with 42 mm objective.
look forward to following this years adventure.

Thanks for the tip. Nice looking piece of glass and features to boot. FFP is not my jam at all however. I could certainly see that being a very likeable optic.

I didn’t even see that one down at the bottom. MOA3 or duplex is what I see. That’s on their website of course. Either way, that’s more my jam. Gracias.

Nice rifle, I like the coyote pattern. I like 40 gr. V- Max in both of my .204's with TAC powder. Good luck!
