Default Deeper Pro Sonar

I just purchased a ‘Deeper Pro’ sonar unit as I figured it would be perfect for my float tube in small mountain lakes to locate depth and structure. Reading reviews online are overwhelmingly positive and I’m excited to try it. It also seems like a handy, easy and accessible tool while out on the ice as well. My question is, does anyone have one of these that they use for this purpose? (Float tube or pontoon primarily)
I’m interested in how you’ve mounted your smart device (iPhone in my case) to the tube for easy viewing.

Cheers 🤟🏻

I have one. It is great for a quick assessment of depth and water temperature. Its battery is not great, so it is important to remember to recharge it. It also drains phone battery at an above-average rate.

I am glad that I have one, but for any sort of 'fixed' structure, like kayak, a purpose-built depth finder is overall a better choice.

Appreciate the response and info. That’s pretty much exactly what I want it for. I was able to rig up a flexible car mount cell phone holder to my float tube that I think will work nicely. Good to know about the battery. I guess it’ll just be used to get a general reading but not for a prolonged period of time. Either way, excited to try it out.

Cheers!

I bought the basic one last year just for depths etc. when we go river shore fishing. Only used it for a few times but it seemed to work well. Showed us some depth spots we never knew where there and a few shallow surprises where we thought there was more water in spots we have fished for many years but never knew. I had a demo similar one from Vexilar a few years back and it worked really well as well.

I bought the garmin equivalent for float tube adventures, still haven't used it.

I've tried my friend's Deeper sonar while on a float tube. It was a decent unit but as others have stated before, the battery life was not great.

I ended up getting a Garmin Striker 4 and a small lithium (5 AH) battery which lasts me an entire weekend of fishing. You can also buy a mount from Scotty for the float tube to attach the fish finder. Overall, I'm much happier with this unit, it takes a little more work to set up but it's about the same cost if not cheaper.
