Default Interesting find on new property

My wife and I bought an acerage off highway 56 back in october the Makepeace area. Layers upon layers of history on the property. The other day I was burning cardboard out back. At the base of the fire spot was a single round of ammo. Turned out to be a .25ACP

The head stamp says W.R.A. Co. at the top .25 AUTO at the bottom. Pretty neat to find, I wonder if there's more. Or maybe a rusty old pistol hidden in the barn/shed. It was built back in the early 20s or maybe a little before. I'll post a picture when I'm back home. Just based on the description I gave does anyone have any idea how old this might be?

Wikipedia says John Moses Browning (praise be unto him) introduced that round in 1905.
So it's probably not that old.

25 auto from Winchester Repeating Arms

I think the 25 auto was a browning calibre from pre ww1

I will dig around. I may have some or one here

Cool find regardless

perhaps your new property was a moonshiners operation....during tuff times as now one thing that is on demand.....you didn't hear it here though.

I figured the round wasn't terribly old but the fact that the headstamp said WRA made me wonder. It's been quite a few years since they went by that name I think?

I dont claim to be an expert by any stretch. Thanks for the info fellas. I could definitely see an old rum runner sticking his .25 in his pants when he was making the weekly supply run. Our property used to be a service station and mechanics shop waaaaaaay back in the day. Old fuel storage tanks are still in the ground. Couldn't imagine what a mechanic would need a pistol for but hey...the letter of the law wasn't always followed back then like it is today.

I would suggest you quietly dig those "cisterns" out of the ground, and never mention that again.
