Default 07/08 coyotes pics

Well, might as well start this one. Fur is not good yet as per the specimen I shot today but really there is a lot of coyotes around and this particular one was bugging my hound. So if ya bag a coyote while your hunting for deer, geese, whatever, take a pic and post it and we'll see how many of these predators we can control this season.

Is it just me, or is that a BIG 'yote?

I took one today. I was out hiking/spotting, saw a WT fawn fly out in front of me with said yote closing ground. Momma WT was making chase but loosing ground. I chambered 1 & yelled. The doe &fauwn made a loop one way and dead dog the other, stopping inside 150. Last mistake she ever made

Default Yotes

I have a total of 7 so far this season. 5 of which were shot with the .300 Win Mag, 2 with the .257 Weatherby.
Will post pictures from now on. Problem is the .257 and .300 make a mess of them!!

What do you guys do with your hides? I'm pretty optimistic about taking one with my bow this year, and unless I get something worth making a rug out of, I'd hate to see the fur go to waste.

Do you HAVE to do anything with the hides? What if you are just doing your landowner a favor?

Legally I don't think you have to do anything with the hides....on a side note I was in Halford Hides in Edmonton the other day. Overheard the sales lady tell a guy that they are not buying any more fur this year.....there was also a sign in the window stating that they are no longer accepting carcass hides.....FYI so guys might want to phone them ahead of time and save yourself a drive....Cheers Pheasantnut

Tree, It is only the human animal that thinks things "Go to waste" in nature.

I personally haven't seen a coyote rug that appealed to me. I prefer to have fox and coyotes tanned and just hung on a hook on the wall. I do like some full mounts that I've seen and have one with a full mount wolf in the display as well.

I skin them out for my clients and they usually get a pair mounted in a display and tann the rest for hanging.
I used to ship to the auctions, but never really enjoyed the experience

Now I get them tanned and sell them at shows, or on the "net"

I do some nuisance control so I occassionally get some that have a summer coat and soem I kill have mange. I leave them lie. They go back into the system.
