Default Getting stoned

Stoneflies have been my #1 pattern this year so I tied some little size 12 ones with tungsten and lead. They sink like crazy and the fish love them!

Can’t use lead under 2oz in national parks but that’s about it.

Well regardless of whether the fish think these are hellgramites, mayflies or stoneflies, they eat em. I found that the fish preffered the straight black ones over the black ones with the hotspot. The golden ones get inhaled regardless

Default Outstanding work!

I never got that good at tying them. I'm embarrassed to show them to other fishermen. My Grasshoppers and caddis flies are starting to look a lot alike.

This year I'm hoping to try a dry fly dropper so I'll let you know.

Fish them all summer long. Pretty rare when trout
will refuse one.

Mind if I ask what you're using to tie the body?
Would love to learn to tie this
Thanks!

Default Nice ties

Very nice ties, really nice work. We all like throwing dries but all my best fish the last 2 years have been on nymphs. Prince Nymph variants, Pheasant tail and Scruffy Stones, Golden and Black.

Sorry I missed this when you posted it. I used netback foil for the body of these and i really like how it looks but it's not necessary. I've just built up a resin body that works just as good in a pinch. I've done some simple versions of these with nothing but black thread, black silly legs and uv resin and they work quite well

The pattern is basically a Rowley Stone but with whatever materials I had lying around.
