Default Conservation Organiation Support

I feel as though I have been rather remiss in actively supporting conservation organizations which help preserve my passion; Not since I was young have I held a Ducks Unlimited membership.

Looking to support organizations that are active in Alberta and more broadly in Canada. Obviously only organizations that have a pro-hunting and fishing vision.

There is of course the Alberta Conservation Association.

Considering joining the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, however they do not seem to be active in Alberta or BC.

The Wild Sheep Foundation is active in Alberta.

Have already mentioned Ducks Unlimited

Wondering what conservation organizations you all support?

Particularity interested in organizations with a local Alberta/Canadian

I shoot in a DU event and take out a membership annually. I also am forced to join AFGA as a condition of joining SPFGA, but after serving on the executive of a club formerly affiliated with AFGA, I would opt out if I could.

We buy tickets on most everything that the various Organizations put out. We usually attend the WSFA and AHEIA banquets, but that's not going to happen this year. For the most part our main donations go to AHEIA.

With the absence of banquet revenue this year we will make a cash donation for the same amount we spend at the banquets. Organizations are going to have a tough time with funding this year.

I have been a member of the Alberta Fish and Game, through whatever local Fish and Game club there was, currently Sherwood Park fo over 55 years. Like any org, they may mot be perfect but they have been working hard to conserve Alberta for 112 years, founded in 1908, and a ton of volunteers have invested a huge amount of time to make that happen. I also support Ducks Unlimited.

AFGA owns almost 50,000 acres of habitat for you to use. Some was donated but most was purchased with donated personal and club funds. Yes we are impacted by this Covid shutdown. We provide insurance for the clubs and members for your affiliation fee. Our executive just sat down [socially distanced] with the top F&W wildlife people so they heard directly from them how our members though of the changes and what new changes they wanted. We still are the largest conservation group in Alberta and a founding member of the CWF speaking to the federal government on conservation issues.

It always amazes m,e how many people have no real idea of all the great work Fish and Game clubs all across Alberta have accomplished. Even the partnership with ACA and the huge amount of land made available for people to hunt fish etc on is not widely known.

I supported AFGA for many years, and they have supported many noble causes, my issue is with the business practices that the executive employed when dealing with the various clubs, and the tactics that they attempted , when our club broke ties with them. By severing all ties with them, we gave our members the option of joining AFGA on their own, without being forced to pay more for their range membership, as a condition of being a member of our facility.
