Coffee Mug

Looking for a "Good" quality coffee mug that will keep my coffee "Hot" not luke warm when sitting in my ground blind in the colder weather .
Tried Yeti's , Stanley and Coleman brands and the best so far is Coleman but maybe only for 2-3 hours before it goes luke warm . Yeti is the worse of the bunch .

I think you must have gotten a lemon. I have several yetis as does my wife sister and I laws and after 6 hours it’s still piping hot.

My stanley thermos kept tea hot for 24hrs. Coffee never lasts that long but still longer than 3hrs

Preheating with hot water can make a big difference, I've found.

I’ve left my Yeti partially full with coffee in the truck all day while skiing and at 4pm it’s still warm. Gotta have the good magnetic sealing lid.

Same here.... I reluctantly admit it is great quality.

I hated brand name over-expensive stuff but I was gifted three different mugs and it works great keeping hot or cold.

This right here. Winter ice fishing, preheat mug with boiling water before added coffee just percolated……. Piping hot all day only problem is you can’t drink it for 3 hours 😅

My Contigo is the best mug I have, keeps it hot for up to 5 hrs no problem, I preheat it with hot water before filling it, my Yeti is not bad but not as good as the Contigo. When I'm out for the whole day I also fill my Stanley thermos and pack it along steaming hot yet after 12 hrs

Yes I pre heat them all with very very hot water .

My dad's 45 year big old Stanley thermos works great but just dont need a 6-8 cup over sized thermos to pack into my blind .

Contigo is the best mug I’ve found plus they don’t leak if they get tipped over. Never really been impressed with Yeti for keeping my coffee hot.

The smaller thermos soup ones keep everything hot for a long time...ya just don't have a sippy cup with a handle, so it may be inconvient for some

Yeti is overpriced bling that look nice but don’t deliver.

Try a bubba mug. The one I have (the hero) still burnt the roof of my mouth after 3 hour drive this spring. $20-$30 at crappy tire depending on the style you want. Stanley’s are good performers also but 2x to 3x more.

I have one Yeti mug that doesn't perform, but I have several others that are fantastic.
I really liked the contigo mugs, especially the leakproof side, but I've had numerous ones that have failed lids with either the seals or just snapping off.

I don't normally preheat my mugs as the coffee doesn't normally last long enough to get cold anyway, but I'll use either a Yeti or a Stanley. With are roughly the same price point and I have found them to be equally as durable and effective.

Well I must have 3 lemon Yetis. ( All were gifted to me ).

They are no better at all than the cheap Contigo cups.

At least the Contigo mugs are nearly completely spill proof. I have a few with locking lids that are great when you lock the lids and want to put them in a pack or a lunch box.

My old Stanley thermos keeps coffee hot forever when I preheat it and fill it.

I use a travel mug every day. I would not spend the $ on a Yeti.

They all see to keep things fairly well when they are full and closed. On e you drink half they all cool quickly.

Contigo definitely has the best leak proof lids but in a 40 min drive to work my coffee goes from kettle boil hot to almost a chug it down temperature

Another vote for Contigo. I bought a Yeti with mag lip and tossed it in my briefcase like I do with my Contigo's and half the coffee leaked out by the time I got to work. Even upright, I'd say the Yeti only performs up to 75% of the Contigo.

However, not all Contigo's are created equal. The one's with the beefier metal lid and locking mechanism are better at keeping liquids hot vs. their basic plastic lid models.

My dads Stanley (which happened to be his first name) is well over that and is all dented up with half the paint missing and I still use it...memories of him...

I will say however, once I start removing my coffee or tea, it cools off quicker that one would expect even when preheated with boiled water.
If for some reason I never poured out any hot liquid during the day, it remains hot at days end.

One thing I like about the truck thermos is for the hot water and soap clean-up.

There is a big difference in the style of Yeti that I would recommend for keeping something hot vs everyday use. Most people have the "Tumbler," it's the one with the clear lid and magnet slide cover that corporations most often give out with their logo on it but I don't find that they keep coffee hot for very long and they are not spill proof, something I value in a coffee mug I'm taking out.

I'd recommend the "Rambler" with the "Hotshot" cap - this will give you a spillproof Yeti that, in my experience, will keep your coffee hot all day. See:

The yeti magnet slide lid is definitely not meant to be spill proof to the point of chucking it in a briefcase. More like, if it tips over and you catch it, or a bumpy road in your cup holder kind of spill proof. Which you obviously have now discovered. 🤣 They make legit spill proof ones though.

Thermos King stainless travel mug. I have been using the same one for about 10 years it’s well beat up but keeps coffee hot for at least 4-5 hours. And it’s leakproof.

This is the best mug I have. Beats yeti and bubba hands down. Lid is awesome and doesn’t leak.

Ditto, It really doesn't matter how good of a vacuum chamber a mug has, when they have a lid or similar lid such as shown below, this is where the majority of the heat will be transferred to the surrounding environment:

Yep, I learned that the hard way! I worked under the assumption that $40 gives you spill proof...sigh...

Well this is one not many know about but is undoubtedly way better than all others. I have had it ice fishing in -15 to -20 and kept coffee hot for hours.
The brand is Zojirushi out of Japan.
Quality is outstanding, easy to clean.
Give it a shot.
You will not be disappointed.
