Default Crown land

Now that everything is froze and no snow it’s been time on the quad. Running around on crown land and down to some of the rivers I’ve done across several dwellings on the river bank, fairly nice cabins, not on a trap line and it has my curiosity. I know you can’t just throw up a permanent building but there sure are a few around.
Anyone have a more informative insight on permanent structures built on crown land?

Dwellings on Crown land not on trap lines are prohibited. Numerous stories of F&W removing them. Orders from higher ups. Sad really.
If you put something out there, its longevity is questionable.

You are so misinformed

I know of many cabins on crown land that are not on any trap line.

The cowboys use them in the summer when they are doing cowboy stuff.

You can apply for the proper permits to build a cabin. It can be done. I know of 2. They arent private getaways as crown land is open to all, however these 2 have been utilized, upgraded and vandalized in the past. The govt doesnt hand the permits out a lot. And theyre expensive.

Looks like it can be done, but lots of administrative hoops to jump through and no guarantee it will be approved if an application is made.

My father always said, "It's better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Just because they're there, doesn't mean they're legal cabins.

Happy New Year

Don’t know what your problem is.

These cabins are totally legal and been there for 60 years

I used to sleep in one all summer while helping my uncle tend to cattle in the porky pine hills .

It’s still there

Nobody has used it for years

Maybe you should take your dad’s advice.
