Default my biggest black bear

I had seen this guy at my bait 3 or 4 times and let him go. actually he was run out of my bait one early mourning by another old smasher, who was about the same size but the dominant boer, but bad coat so I let him go, then my father who has guided black bear for years told me id beter take him because it was the end of may and he could be gone anytime after a sow,so I decided if he showed up again I would take him without hesitation, so sure enough the next evening at about 8:10 pm he came in from the back of the barrel nose up and smelling, I clicked my video cam on clicked the safty on my sako av 338 win mag with 225 gr hand load and put it fair in his chest, he roared smashed his head on the ground, breaking 3 teeth off, summersaulted dropped about 20 ft down the trail, great fun to load the 400 plus bear on the truck took 4 of us, ive got lots of nice bears but he was my nicest. his rug hangs on my wall and I have to put his head and shoulders on a table cause he is to long, the taxidermist used a young polar bear form for his head.

Is his left front paw missing at the ankle, or is it just the angle of the camera and the bear that makes it look that way top me?

Very simple to score a bear measure the widest part and measure the longest part ad them up thats your score. you can go to Boone and crockett. com and get a score sheet aswell good luck.

You should bears that size are few and far between! Also if you don't mind me giving you advice, have the scull done professionally in a glass covered case so nobody can get at it.

This Black Bear is truly ridiculous, in the best possible sense of the word! Truly a spectacular beast.

Congratulations, sincerely!
