Rolled up my first 50 rounds of 45-70. I had 5 charge weights, ten rounds each.

45.0gr 1712fps, 46.0gr 1748fps, 47.0gr 1763fps, 48.0gr 1790fps, and 49.0gr 1826fps.

AND...they all went bang! I’m happy since I had never loaded 45-70 before. And the rifle survived...



My goal was around 1900fps for speed. And since the temperature was -5c, there should be faster speed when we get above 15c. Next on the agenda, another 50 test rounds with 48.5, 49.0, 49.5, 50.0, and 50.5 grains of the IMR4198.

And the buckhorn sights really suck. I have Skinner peeps coming. So relief soon.

Accuracy for the Campro 300gr......not sure yet. The sights are so bad, that I can’t judge the accuracy yet. I’ll let you know.

You should like the skinners. I love shooting my 45-70 although my new one has XS sights my old one had the winged Skinner with Skinner front blade that I shot extremely well out to 200 yds. I.Generally load imr 3031 or varget for full power loads but, red dot or unique makes for a dandy light plinking load.

I am still trying to get thru the 50 I loaded for my SBL 5 years ago. Boy that thing bucks.. You will like the peeps, HUGE improvement. That is what I have on mine now. I did have a vortex venom on it for a while. It looked stupid but was pretty functional.

We need to do a lot of shooting before we need to do any reloading but .... I did put a couple if inline mirrors on the 650 so I could keep an eye on the feeders. Not very exciting I know .... but it's something, right??

Finished my second lot of 50 rounds of 45-70. I rolled up another 5 charge weights to test.

I’m getting used to the big case. I think it’s akin to the BMG case. It has its own particularities. Such as feel. How it sizes. How it crimps.

This batch is better then the first batch. I’ve got the crimping die set up perfectly now. But it is different than the other smaller calibers that I crimp. Much more force is required to get a decent crimp. Also, I was very particular on the case length after sizing so that the crimp would be consistent. My margin was +/-.001”.

Printed a box for my Hornady Comaparators. Not my design though.

Spent a week steaming dents, stripping, sanding, pillar and weld bedding this “ extra Sako” stock. Then re finishing to 1000 grit wet sand in a satin finish. 1 inch cut off stock to allow for 13.5 inch pull with limbsaver attached.

Cried.... too many rifles and not enough time to play with them. Plus killed the shoulder on 300wsm. And got sloppy with technique with loads that i knew weren’t keepers

The only thing that happened in my reloading room today was I took my son's and my .223 match rifles out and took them to the range, shot the jeepers out of the 300, 385, and 500 meter targets , then came home and put them back in - loading time again!

3D printed a sight for the Labradar. Came out OK, just took 3 hrs. Fits tight without using the center bolt.

I organized some of the tools I have, pounded some nails in to my wall backer above my bench. Hung my O Give tools and inserts to get them out of the baggy, now it’s just grab and go.

I also pressed 88 30-06 rounds, 165 gr nosler partitions and varget. Used about 3/4 of a lb doing that.

Down to about 5.8 lbs of varget left on the shelf, but that will last years now that I use H4350 for my two target rifles.

Showed a buddy how to load for his 308 Winchester, loaded some 6MMBR and some 6.5 Freddy Mercury.
Out today at the range practicing some offhand irons shooting at 200 and 300, and 500 with the .223 and 6mmBR irons rifles.
Now I am out of ammo for the Creedmoor , but I still have lots of 223 and 6mmBR for the irons rifles!
Still on the fence about that big Creedmoor- even though it will shoot 1/2 MOA or better on a regular basis at longer ranges , shooting a big scoped rifle with a brake just isn't my thing. I may just twist the 308 Palma barrel back on and go back to thee irons on that rifle!

Got the handle from Lyman for my Victory press finally! It did take a bit longer than what I would have liked, but I didn’t have to show proof of purchase at all. So all in all a positive warranty experience.

I deprimed 200 7mm rem mag cases and deburred the flash holes.

Just happy I can finally use my equipment!

Mounted 2 scopes, one on a 7mm-08 and the other on a 22-250. Now off to the range.

First batch of 124 Hornady shells in 7mm rem mag fully prepped and looking pretty after the wet tumble.

I’m using the basic lee trimmer and pilot that attaches the shell holder to a drill. It works, it’s consistent, and it will rip your hands apart haha. I’ll be investing in a trimmer in the future lol. I’m already tempted to grind the shell holder flat on two sides and use a wrench on it. Just seems like it would be easier to use and a lot less wear on my hands.

Added a rotary tumbler to the mix, I already have an ultrasonic cleaner but have always wanted to try one of the wet rotary units, couldn't really justify the cost of the real ones but came across this one for 100 bucks from the usual suspects....just got it today so haven't got around to actually using it yet but threw in 50 new 7 rem mag brass to see how they fit

Loaded 100 rounds of 204 for a friends son, resized and prepped 60 cases for my 300 RUM.

Today I have a friend coming over that is just getting into reloading he wants to do some under supervision no worries we'll do 100 or so rounds for my 223 and by then he'll have the just of it. You tube has given him most of the info already he just wants some hands on.
