What did you do in your reloading room today?

Have not shot any handguns this year at all. Thats a first. So did the basic field strip on a Sig 226 and Browning Hi Power, they were pretty clean but quick check, cleaned up slide , rails , barrel etc then a light coat of synthetic in barrels. Ordering a new 17 lb recoil spring for the Browning.
Wiped them down with Ballistol. Three .22 pistols and .22 mag revolver gettin the same today.

Gave my dad all of my 12 gauge reloads for a week of goose hunting. He brought back a lot of hulls but not all of the hulls.

Brought me some RIO hulls so I did whatever mad scientist would do and developed a steel load for the hulls and wads that I had handy. Always fun putting the string on the trigger and tying the shotgun into the leadsled and hiding behind a deepfreezer to see the results. LOL

End result - found a great load for my new RIO hulls.

Does anyone have a way to chronograph shotgun loads? Labradar does not have the capabilities...

I can see for the downrange velocity, but
It won't work for the initial muzzle velocity??

Did not try my magneto speed - sorta terrified to blow it up. Lab radar does not pick up the muzzle velocity and cannot identify the pellets - to many of them.

Made a Concentricity gauge with 3D printer. Took a couple of days, and had to reprint the gauge clamp as it broke twice. Over the last few days, I've cleaned and resized almost 200 pieces of brass. I havent fully prepped yet, just decapped, resized, and cleaned.

I was having a he'll of a time with the dies and dumpling the necks no matter what I did for the lube that I had. I went out and got some isopropyl and coconut oil (I couldn't find lanolin locally), and mixed it at approximately 10:1. Worked like a charm.

If your getting lube dents use less lube and clean your die.

I was using very little and still having to clean after about 15 rounds. I could barely feel it when I ran my fingers across the brass after I lubed it, using the RCBS lube pad and RCBS Case Lube 2 I believe it's called. I uses the homebrew and didn't have a single issue in 100 pieces.

Make sure the little vent hole is not plugged. Usually about 2/3 of the way up the threads.

Yup, did that as well. Not really sure why I was having it happen so quick, just happy to have figured something else out. This is the first time it's happened that quick and that often. Mind you, I've probably loaded less than 3000 rounds so I'm far from a pro. But what you guys had mentioned were the first things that I did when I started having issues with it. But when they came back, change something up.

reloading a batch of 12 gauge brass this evening.
I make a habit of closely checking my centerfire brass when loading , but even moreso my 12 gauge brass.
This batch is about 10 years old, probably about 30 loadings on it.
I finally cracked one at the lip last year, saw it when wet tumbling ,this time around I found this one, when could prove very catrstrophic if the pocket let go.
This brass has seen both 2 1/5 dram loads with 1 oz of shot and heavy 3 dram loads with 1 1/4oz of shot
I don't know if this would be the case with turned brass from Buffalo arms, because it is thicker, but for what the drawn Mag Tech costs , it is well worth it!
It pays to be diligent for sure.

Magneetospeed works! 1525fps for the reload shotgun shells. I'll take that any day!

Cleaned and sized and prepped all my 280ai. Brand new Nosler brass got stuck in my sizing die twice. What an absolute pain to deal with! My 100 yatd group was not great, more than 1inch moa but shooting at 400 yards the group tightened up. What are the odds of that. Loaded the 50 and set for the season.

Started cleaning up a bunch more .223 brass and projectiles.

Well finally got out and shot the 30BR today. 30grs. of N133 behind a Sierra 115gr. varmint hp one ragged hole at 100 Yds. Happy, happy happy.

Also have four 3/8" drill batteries worth of .223 brass with military crimp primer pockets removed and unformed. All brass sorted by head stamp. Next, full length size, trim to length, chamfer, then save for a rainy day.
