Yes been lucky for sure... lots of guys talking about less numbers this year but my areas are ahead of last year so far. I have been setting less snares this year but really taking my time to make sure each one is in the perfect spot and set as good as i can... been paying off so far. Or maybe just horse ***t luck.. who knows!

Finally got myself out of the skinning shack and took advantage of this mild weather (+1 today) to hang snares.....more going up tomorrow. My bait sites have slowed right down so it's time to move. I started two new bait sites Sunday/Monday and the Yotes have found one but not the other. Hoping for visitors there tonight. Blind sets are starting to go up. Time to rev things up a bit.

Slow Dave don't think the warm weather helped and need some fresh snow.

Snow is forecasted tonight and colder weather over the next few days here. It'll be nice to be able to see fresh tracks in the snow and freshen things up a bit. I just started two new bait sites this week and snares are hung so that worked out well.

I've been tinkering with using longer snares in wolfmasters so I can hide them off the trail more. This one was caught in one of those setups, I think this version will work out.

Today's check! I had a decent week, 4 this check and 7 last check.

Had a good last week with 2 fox and 9 coyotes. Todays check was my first goose egg on all three baits lol. I do have a little bob kitty hanging at the one bait though. He got gang setted for today.

Started a new bait site last week and was surprised today when I saw that the coyotes never found it yet. Then I checked my snares and I had caught four. I picked up another two at a couple of other sites for six total. All really nice ones with no mange, mites or red belly. Happy about that check!

The next few days are supposed to be relatively mild.....good snare hanging weather......followed by colder weather. Fresh snow and tracks = Good times.

I doubt much will be moving in 100 km winds. at least you don't have to worry about the birds getting them.

Dont say that Dave , we all know what happened the last time you mentioned birds . lol . It seems my bait lasts forever at my sites after I start catching at it , the dogs dont get too close even when its really cold out . Birds consume most of it . Im not saying that I catch all of them before they get to it , but it seems they are much more weary than before . Anyone else have this happen ?

That really hurts .. We got lucky with our bunch today and had nothing damaged , see what tomorrow brings at the new spot . Here's our lucky haul from one bait today .

I had seven coyotes on today's check! Unfortunately three were mangey, that seems to be my luck this year. It's still a good haul though.
