Mountain Hunting
I am an experienced hunter but am relatively new to Alberta. I am looking for someone who knows the lay of the land so to speak and would like to hunt for either big horn or elk in the mountains. I went for big horn last year in the Grande Cashe area but it was so warm out we never saw any. I would prefer to hunt in the Crowsnest Pass since it is a little closer to home but I will go anywhere in the province. Best case scenario your a rancher with a couple horses and want a hunting buddy who can walk all day in the mountains if need be.(I would also deff compensate you if you had horses and we used them) Anyway if anyone is interested let me know.

Was gonna post a new thread for this but can't seem to do it with my blackberry....not sure why??
Anyway.. My spring guiding season is in the toilet this year due to a massive lack of american hunters. I want to keep my baits active and I figger I might as well hunt them since nobody else is. If any of you guys are looking to kill your first bear or first colored bear, gimme a buzz. I'm not lookin for money, and I'm not lookin to give my spots away to experienced hunters. If your new and you wanna try it and your not gonna rig a bait in half a mile away next year lol gimme a call. I'm located an hour and a half NE of Edmonton. Like I said, I'm not charging for this and not guiding under the table. I'm inviting a couple of new hunters to a bait for a couple nights to give them an opportunity to try Spring bear hunting. Gimme a buzz IF YOUR NEW!!

First two weeks of May are pretty much booked up now. I have room for one guy with his own quad that's not scared to go in and out by himself first week of the month. Last 2 weeks of the month are still open.
I had one idiot kind of go off on me on this issue yesterday so Ill just lay this on the table right up front for all to see. Yes I'm inviting new bear hunters up to hunt my baits. No I'm not charging and wage or compensation for this. I do however expect that anybody with any class at all will chip in a little for the cost of bait. Beavers cost 5 bucks a piece...bears eat a lot of them lol. Don't give me any money if your concerned about legalities, pay it straight to the beaver guy when he drops off the weekly load. I don't expect or request any monetary gain of any kind. Just buy some bait if you can eh?
I'd really like to see a kid come up with his dad and shoot a bear. If any of you fellas got a boy old enough for a tag...and wanna take him bear huntin gimme a buzz.
Iv told everybody that calls that your welcome to stay with me. I have 2 acres lakefront on Skeleton lake. Its not a mansion but itl do for bear camp. The extra beds are in an unfinished basement. It aint the hilton but its clean and warm.

Uuuuggghhh, what's wrong with people? I've now got my third call from some arsehole giving me hell this morning. According to all 3 of these "experts" its illegal for me to accept ANY money for bait, gas or anything else. So just so that I've got all my poop in a group, I phoned fish and wildlife and got the straight facts, and here they are.
I can LEGALLY contract my services to AN ALBERTA RESIDENT for remuneration if I want. That means I COULD charge for this if I wanted to.
So that being said, all you dudley frickin do rights that are shakin my monkey tree and accusing me of illegal guiding can go to hell lol. I havnt asked anybody for any remuneration of any kind for hunting together this spring. All I've asked is that they kick in a little towards the cost of bait. And believe me, there's no way in hell I'm gonna make a penny asking guys to kick in a couple hundred bucks a week for bear bait lol. My beaver bill alone this year is gonna be over 500 bucks. Popcorn, cookies and licorice is another easy 500. My fuel bill every year is in around the 1000 mark, plus all the other stuff that goes into baiting. Honey, propane, lag bolts, rope, chain, batteries etc. This stuff aint free!
Sorry for the little rant.

I think what you are doing is great. People don't know what they are talking about. I wish I had the time to experience this as I don't have a bloody clue about bear baiting and would love to learn. This is the 4th spring in a row I wanted to do my own baits and the 4th that I will be sitting on the sidelines.
Good luck.

Well I said I was doin it pro bono so I should prolly stick to that lol, but I think if I was gonna charge for it I'd probably charge about 1500 for one hunter for 6 days or 2000 for 2 including everything except licenses and tags. That would be based on the two hunters sittin together most evenings. If they wanted to sit seperate I'd have to re work that a bit I think.

Man, herdball has been pretty generous in posting this here, it's a wonder he's still around. I'd like to give a piece of my mind to the overzealous, greedy guys who contacted him!

I would LOVE to do this. I'm new to it, and would love to take Herdbull up on the opportunity. I'd pay for bait, gas, etc, no problem. Only concern is I have no quad or access to one.
And, just to keep the hunters meeting hunters thread up:
My name is Chris, I am looking to get into Bowhunting. I have all the gear, just havent taken any game yet.
I live in Edmonton, and would be willing to travel a couple hours out if needed.

I wouldn't call any of these fellas greedy by any means lol. Everybody that's coming so far has offered to help with rig in and baiting, and everybody is paying their part of the bait bill with a smile on their face. Don't forget I'm gettin a free ride persay outta this too eh? Lol I want to keep my baits rollin this spring and I sure as heck can't afford to do it all myself, so its a win win situation. My baits get the bait they need and a few good fellas get to hunt spring bear for comparitivley next to nothing.
There's still a few days in May with nobodys name tied to them yet for you fellas that wanna try it. If you're coming by yourself not having a quad is no big deal as we'll be sitting together anyway and you can ride in with me. Its the groups of two or more that need to bring a machine with them.

Hi. I'm looking for a partner to hunt with. I'm interested mostly in Geese and Ducks. I feel it's still too early for it, but I just got my licenses, and if there's some other type of hunting suitable for a beginner within 1.5 hour drive of Edmonton, I would be interested.
