Search around for some 410 boxes then realized that a cardboard spacer in a 20 gauge box will hold exactly 49 410 rounds!

Loaded up some .223 and 6.5 rounds.

For the .223, I have some Varget that is 13 years old with a hole in the jug allowing air. (I bought this as an unopened 8lb jug that turned out to a opened jug closer to 7 or 7.5 lbs - lesson learned). I loaded up rounds with the old Varget to compare to a brand new jug of Varget.

For the 6.5, I loaded up some 125gr Cutting Edge Lazers with Varget to test. I've heard these can be picky to load due to the seal tite band and pressure development. I may also try the same with H4350.

I actually sorted all my brass from the season and my last shoot.
Annealed all my dasher and 284 brass.
Sized it. And it in the cleaner now.
Just have to run it all through the Giraud.
And I will be ready to load for Pheonix next month.

I’ve been hitting the loading room kind of hard these last two weeks. It looks like I’m totally caught up now.

.38spl, 401 rounds
.357mag, 550 rounds
.44mag, 450 rounds
.45 Colt, 500 rounds
45-70, 80 rounds
.223rem, 185 rounds
6.5x47L, 220 rounds
6.5CM, 320 rounds
.308win, 320 rounds
9mm, 1600 rounds
12ga, 65 rounds (factory ammo)

That totals 4691 rounds in my stores. (WTF is it with that extra “1” round of .38spl, huh?)

Actually, my brass stores are still doing well for each caliber. It’s the consumables that are starting to look a bit low.

Default its been a while...

...since I did anything in my reloading room.

The inspiration came from shutting myself in over this brutal weather period.

Started from scratch: sorting; cleaning; sizing, trimming, deburring, charging and bullet seating.
Loaded up 87 rounds of 7mm08 and have another 50 cases all prepped for bullet seating.
I don't use any electronics and I don't see myself going that route. I bought a Frankford Arsenal Powder Trickler like almost a year go....maybe it was more and I've never used a trickler before. I just used an empty case filled with powder and tapped whatever powder out with my finger to level the scale. It worked fine.

Now getting on in years and feeling it, I moved the scale and powder trickler up to eye level. No more bending down to see the scale reading and the powder trickler is more sensitive than tapping a case filled with powder. Quicker too because I don't have to bend over to read the scale and no over charges that make you start all over again.

Swapped out the 20ga dies on my one MEC 600 for the .410 dies. Even with #6 shot the drop tube bridges up with shot, and you have to jiggle, wiggle and tap on the tube to dump the shot. And setting up the crimp can be a challenge too.
I know a 13 year old who’s gonna be all smiles………

Small run of my 6.5x47 Lapua load.
Currently chewing through a bunch of .22 Hornet. Found a bunch of brass that I had fully prepped and forgotten about. Perfect loading weather.

Dropped the hammer on two carbon fiber tripods, two ball heads and two Shooting Saddle Mounts from Sunwayfoto for the wife and I. Not super expensive but the gophers will never know.

Nice. Care to elaborate on the tripods and saddles. Make model and where you got them. I’ve been thinking of going this route as well.

Default Built a Magazine.

Sometimes, unavailability is the best motivation. Finding it nearly impossible to track down a magazine for my newly-acquired Browning A-bolt Micro Medallion in .22 Hornet, I decided to try my hand at making one.
Needs a finish blueing still, but functionally, she's all there!

- Stainless steel plate for the magazine box
- Brass for the ramp
- Spring-steel of an old bandsaw-mill blade for the internal mechsnism
- And a spring from the cupboard-latch of an RV for the movement spring.

Very nice. I hope it’s accurate for you.

Here’s what I load for the x47;

139gr Lapua Scenars
Lapua brass, CCI BR4 primers
Speeds: 2890fps - Cadex KS rifle 26” barrel
CBTO (ogive) measurement: 2.1805" (.010" jump)
38.0gr Varget
(I bump the shoulder .001” and have .002” neck tension)

I’ve taken this combo out to 1600m.

The cold weather had me at the bench for a little loading. 50 of 22 Hornet and 60 22-250. Tumbled and prepped a bunch of brass, it's amazing what you dig up when you get some time to yourself. D.H.

Your Varget load, is very close to one that I have also. Uncannily close actually! Save the velocity difference of course and mine is with 130gr VLD. It’s a plenty accurate load. Haven’t taken it out as far as yourself though. I want to say 1087 yards. I haven’t attempted a one mile poke with anything yet.

My buddy came down for the weekend. We set up 2 single stage presses. So far we have resized and deprimed. Then primed 750 38spl and 450 .357.
Working on opening the throat for bullet seating. Think by the time we're done that we will be stir 🤪.
Then I'll start on some .223 with vmax 55 and do some load development.
Stay warm

I made 26 rds of 30-06

That's enough for 17 hunting seasons and 2 misses.

Only one rifle ever made for the 45-75…… 1876 Winchester. The cartridge was often used by the NWMP.

Interesting indeed. I know I've heard of it before, but the memory leaks a little these days, so had to dig out Mike Venturino's lever-action book and read up on it. Lee, I presume you're loading it BPC?
