I'm still not confident that we have the goaltending we need to win the cup

Is it too early to start talking about Skinner? 5 goals on 13 shots. I was surprised when they didn't look for better goaltending after last year. At least if the new GM can see the light early, he will look elsewhere. Let's face it, Skinner is a decent backup goalie, that's it. This is going to be a long season and I know it's only the first game but the way their season ended, you would think they would have learned. Every point counts when it comes down to the end. At least the Canucks lost.

10th In GA, 5th in SA, top 5 in high danger chances allowed. Skinner: 36 wins, .905 SV% and 2.62 GAA.
That and ya……. Terrible goalies are always doing 16 game win streaks and taking their team to game 7 of the Stanley cup finals……
Oh and erase that horrid first dozen games of the season and how good would have last years regular season been?
Now the defence? Lots and lots of room for improvement there. Everywhere, save for ekhome

All teams are still adjusting but for some fans the pendulum swings hard either way depending on the day.

First 10 games are tuff no matter how you look at it just gotta keep outa a long skid downhill.

Agree. Most 'experts' put him just outside of the top 10 of NHL goalies. A bargain at his current salary. If he has a decent year, he's gonna get paid. Then we'll have two players who are not an 'x' million dollar player, along with Nurse, when they get the market rate.

No doubt defence needs improvement, look no further than Nurse. Regardless 11 goals in two games, give me a break. I know it's early but worst save percentage in the league so far. You can say all you want about how good the Oiler's goaltending is. We shall see.

Ahhh this is considered trolling.

Mcdavid plays 76 games this year.
He fails to hit the 100 point mark.
9 players ahead of him in points.
Oilers make the playoffs.
Oilers out handily in the second round.
The same spectator will win the 50/50 twice this regular season.
Go oil!

100%.
Only one that may fail is the amount of players ahead in points.

Bessie already placed a wager with me that Oilers would win the Cup, I think it was the day after Game 7. He's a true believer. To the victor go the spoils.

I agree 100%.
Someone needs to run around the dressing room slapping faces.
If last year taught us one thing though, it's that the first half of the season doesn't really matter to these guys.

Is there nowhere to go on this forum where you aren't trolling somehow?
Why don't you go start a thread on the Canucks so you two can go enjoy yourselves in peace and quiet?

Come on it’s a hockey chirp no more no less and I expect it back over and over.
I liked your chirp by the way.
A real zinger

and McJesus cost me in a slight set back in a few hockey pools for the record....who wouldn't take the greatest player to rack up points....thankfully it is just one game and us poolies got 81 left to hopefully make an impact.

It sure is exciting watching Mc David and the others, They are fast and talented + but going no where with the current goaltending. If the Oilers had Florida's Bobrovsky and Florida had Skinner , Mc David and crew probably woulda pumped in six + goals a game and won the Cup.

How about better defence instead.
Would have been less giveaways and bad plays resulting in fewer goals given up.
That makes much more sense.

Tonight they will turn it on and own the flames.
Better as I put all my hockey picks as in oilers in one basket.
Got a feeling McJesus has had enough.
Just don’t let the flames shoot in the direction of skinner….lol

Nothing I have seen out of the Oilers this year so far has been anything but lackluster, sloppy and disjointed, goals for and against in 3 games 15 - 3 tells the whole story.
