There seems to be two approaches to waterfowl hunting, one is to empty your gun at every flock, hoping to hit as many birds as possible, the other is to pick only higher percentage shots, try and hit the head/neck area if possible, and have birds fly off now and then with live rounds left in the gun. Both will produce limits if the setup is good, but the second method provides that same limit with fewer shots, and fewer lost cripples. Choose whichever method you choose, and I will do the same.

And my shotgun target is the shoulder area, heart, lung, wings. Have a couple birds left in the freezer from last season, and so far, a single pellet on the plate is all we’ve encountered. High flyers aren’t our bag.
