The story is the same for all Ski Doo accessories...they are nice, but not worth the price. You can tell the auger mount was designed by some engineer in Quebec that's used to riding down wide, groomed trails. It's just begging to get ripped off on tight trails.

Yeah. Its all money and only money. I actually talked to Clayton out in Manitoba. I might have to ask him how much for that rack. It is quite nice. And would save a bunch of backyard redneck solutions. No offense to any rednecks. Some ideas are genius.

I wouldn't bother asking Clayton...he either got it for free or he paid a lot less than you would. I'd just call ArcLab directly. They're normally pretty good at picking up the phone.

was out for ride yesterday afternoon , sled started right up no issues . was a great ride need more snow now. you probably won't see your ride till January . i ordered mine in late February and didn't see it till the falling January . 11 month wait .but it was worth it. enjoy.

You have more gear and machines than all the forum members. Good for you. I’m jealous. I’m just excited to buy a new mopod and composite flighting for my old Ion.

Hardwater fishing is my passion. I'm very fortunate to be able to buy all the new gear to try out, travel across the West to meet cool like-minded people, and even occasionally get a picture with a nice fish.

P.S. - There are a few members here that can give me a solid run for my money.

Hi there, looking at replacing my Ion Gen 1 with the new Eskimo auger, I see most of the retailers in the states have already dropped the pricing and also include a free battery with a purchase. Anyone know if this will happen in Canada and when. I do have one sitting in my cart with an American retailer but unsure of extra costs associated it ie, duty and a brokerage fee. Thanks.

If they are already marking down the E40 it's likely coming from Ardisam directly to compete with the StrikeMaster 40V, as price/a second battery was all that was ever saving them from getting run over by ION. I'd call a few retailers like The Fishin' Hole and ask how many they have in their system. I bet it's a lot and if so they will likely be discounted before long up here as well. SM's usually go on sale or get the second battery promo early in the season.

I was in Edmonton this weekend, so I brought the Big Ticket down to compare it side by side with the MH Mac Attack at Cabela's. The 48" Big Ticket is too long to fit in my Otter case so I was hoping to exchange it for the 42" Mac Attack. The Mac Attack is a really, really nice rod...for walleye. Honestly, it just squeaks in as a Medium rod IMO. If you get a chance I highly suggest getting your hands on a Big Ticket for our March trip, which I should call you about sometime soon.

On a slightly different note, while at Cabela's South in Edmonton I noticed they had some old stock of the previous gen Otter Vortex hubs. These are generally the same as the new Vortex Pros minus the walkout door. The Resorts are quite different in shape though with the Vortex having considerably more fishable area, and longer walls that make putting cots on the outside walls much easier. This is easily the best hub I've used overall for winter camping and Clayton Schick said the same back when Vortex hubs were current and before he became part of their Pro Staff. It's the only hub I have that I would never think of selling. If you're serious about winter camping, alone or in a pair, it's definitely worth checking out. You won't see them new very often if ever again when these are gone.

AlbertanGP how do you find the tracks? I’m really debating on purchasing a sled or going the track route. I have the defender XMR 1000 which comes stock with arched a-arms providing lots of ground clearance and lockers front and rear. I like the idea of only having one machine for insurance, registration, and garage space purposes.

I started typing a reply and soon realized it was going to be a novel. If you really want to talk about it PM me and I'll call you. If I could have only one it would be the Ranger on tracks. But I think I'm going to use my sled(s) more and more each season. The sleds are probably more practical all around. But I like cool stuff (I debated getting a Sherp instead of the Ranger) and the Ranger just flat out does everything...even if it is slower and at a higher cost than sleds.

I have an inline reel on my perchin rod. The free drop is nice for fishing deep tungsten but I wouldn’t suggest running them for any other species other than pan fish.

I picked up the ION Tune-up Bundle for my R1. It gives me another battery, a composite auger and a power adaptor for the price of a battery up here. The issue is that you need to have a US address as they won't ship to Canada.

That's a good idea. I ended up buying the Cabela's rod case. It holds 4 rods and reels no problem and I could probably get 6 in there without reels on them.

The SM 10 inch lite flite has been a great addition this year. I will be nice for the walking on early season but just that much lighter any time one wants to d punch holes around the area.
