I placed an order Sunday nite, about 7 P.M. and Paypal was the only way I was offered to pay. And I got my order in the mail this morning.

For what it's worth it's at the sportsman show this year.

Rapala has a lure that is very similar...I picked one up at the sportsman show....the biggest difference is that it is a lot cheaper....

I think he's refering to the weedless shad from Rapala, i can't see any Rapala plug being cheaper than the Smartfish?

i would like to think that the members of an Alberta outdoorsmen forum would support a small homegrown business operating out of Sherwood Park rather than put more money in the pockets of a giant company like Rapala.... especially for a lure that is truly innovative and EXTREMELY effective on our local waters...

If they come from Sherwood park why can we not get them without contacting someone in Ontario and paying an arm and a leg?

Default Smartfish Rocks!

I ordered a few of the Smartfish lures a couple of months ago, I don't recall paying an "arm and a leg" for them. I think they were $12 each, unless they went up in price sense then? I think this is comparable to the Rapala prices, I also think they are unique compared to the Rapala. After using the Smartfish lures i would not hesitate to purchase more of them, they are awesome. I like the fact that they are Canadian made and to be honest would rather support them even if they were a couple of bucks more.

TrophyPikeHunter brought me back 2 of the smartfish lures he picked up while at the sportsmen's show.

Nice packaging, nice lure .... neat concept. We will see how they work.

BUT the rings are a single wrap and pretty thin. The hooks also don't look very sturdy either. Both the rings and hooks will be replaced day one. One big pike and she's coming apart .... guaranteed.

You might want to make those changes and test it before you take it out as the balance of the lure is kind of critical as to how it works (for jigging at least) I spoke to them at the booth and there will be a larger version coming out in June or July. He gave me his card so I could call him when things were firmed up.

My hope is the larger version will have more pike proof parts until then I might have to set my drag lower.

Let me know how the test goes.

Good luck on your season.

I got the green tiger and blue fin - was at Wab yesterday and they definitely got the attention of the pike, however only little nibbles at the lure and nothing bit, so I gave up after 30 mins and dropped bait down and caught fish agan. I did notice the ring just a single loop so it may be wise to replace that like the bait balls as I'm sure they will pull apart once you catch a pike.

I think these people are doing a great job of creating hysteria over these lures. I have tested them and they are no better than the rapalas that look very similar. They are certainly hooking lots of cash!

Guess we'll find out. They are however, doing very well catching large walleye on lake Winnipeg, and a lot of guys on the Winnipeg green backs FB page are swearing by them. But, same thing goes for pelican flutter spoons, and just a couple years ago it was all about the live target lipless rattle bait.

I do have an idea where these bait could potentially be deadly for me river fishing. I know one thing, I will certainly put them to the test!

Not much else to say here other then they work! This lure landed 2 of 3 pike over 40 inches this weekend and the only walleye! It works, and I will make sure to always have a few in my tackle bag.

When I talked to the designer at the Edmonton Sportsman show he recommended the bluegill pattern for pike so I picked one up and am hoping to use it this weekend! I also just saw them for sale at the Southside WSS.

Just got a perch, herring and shad. Gonna try them on the last day of hard water. Do you guys find tipping them with bait help or hinders them overall?

I didn't tip mine, but added scent can't hurt. I did change the treble to a larger hook, and some pike absolutely inhaled this lure so I would suggest pinching the barbs and having long needle nose pliers handy.
