After doing serious amounts of shooting with a 300WM, I couldn't imagine getting very excited with a .22 anything. So as soon as I got my hunting license I bought a KSRH in .44 mag and never looked back.

Close to 5000 hand-loaded rounds fired in approx a year. Mostly hot stuff using H110. Got pretty accurate too by that time, up to approx 100 yds. Did a number on my hand tendons for awhile though, but that cleared up. Only other experience I had before then was early sidearm training with a standard-issue SIG using 9mm hardball.

Years later, talked a girlfriend into buying a new sig p226 in 9mm. She got pretty good with it fairly quick too. No other shooting experience before that.

I don't buy the idea you have to start off really light, as long as you're paying attention to what you're doing. And although price points have gotten out of hand recently, you really have to buy something which fits your particular hands super well and otherwise shoots precisely.

You can get a Yakuz 16, its based of 1911, it is 9.mm auto, comes with case, Cleaning Rod's & oil, Great Gun, Easy Take Down, under $420.00 nice package, Gun look's great also, i have estimated 1800 +/- round's through mine, Great Gun, Great Price, Great looking, plus 9.mm cheaper to shoot than .45 acp.

Are you talking about the Girsan Yavuz 16? If you are, it's actually based on a Beretta 92 and is an excellent pistol. I had one that I bought cheap because it already had 3000 rounds through it. Fed it another 3000 rounds with no issues. I have since given it to a buddy's son who is starting to shoot. The pistol is currently being used and round count is around 7500.
