I see an incredible number of parallels in the situation of LEO's as being much the same as gun owners in fighting the sterotypes and polarization towards either group. Most definitely worth a listen.

CSSA's weekly notes, they are not actually pursuing any legal action on their own, but are assisting others in their efforts. They are also saying there could be a fall election, which with some of the polling numbers being flashed around, means trouble for gun owners, as the Libs apparently have a substantial lead.
And they have a comment in there about shotgun barrels frtom an inquiry made to the CBSA from a member wanting to bring back shotguns from a US competition, that sound like something Blair wrote, disturbing. Blair has been taken apart this week in HOC by Glen Motz and Bob Zimmer on the subjects of addon guns to the prohib list by the RCMP and shotgun barrel definitions, and Blair refuses to answer or clarify. He keeps spouting his usual lies and dodges.

Thanks to Caber Tosser tonite for the Alberta Firearms advisory Committee names, saves me looking up the post in FB again to get them, and we now have an opening for a Provincial CFO out there that someone could apply for now.

An interesting statement regarding the classifications of some of the banned guns such as the RPA Quadloack and the AI AX. There are screenshots of the full FRT for both, all models except the 50BMG are shown as NR on the FRT, 50BMG is shown as prohib. Some folk say the action is what is mentioned in the OIC and all cartridges are banned in the action. But, someone else is saying people are not aware of the fact, that where it is listed, is what governs what cartridges and action versions are banned, would also apply to the Ruger #1 and Mauser 1908 Brazilian.
I'd like to see some lawyers chime in on this interpretation;
NO it doesn't. This is simply an example of people unfamiliar with how the law operates trying to misconstrue the plain meaning of words in order to torture the application of a section of law that is already bad enough on its own.
The law bans 10Kj+ firearms. The law then lists known models which have variants or modified versions that exceed that limit. THe FRT then sets out to specify which variants are and are not prohibited. While there may be errors, generally only firearms models chambered in cartridges known to produce in excess of 10kj ME are prohibited.
The list of firearms in the OIC is legally meaningless. It is propaganda. On the list or not, if it isn't more than 10K J then it isn't prohib under this section.

Ontario Landowners website, they are very legit, they are taking on the private property tack in their filing against the OIC's, the links to the statement are here on the website, and they also have a gofundme page, and could use some help. Apparently Elizabeth Marshall is an advisor to them. Some people say they are a pretty powerful bunch in Ontario, and have been known to make judges shudder and quake a bit with how well they present stuff.

John Gormley interviewing Alison DeGroot of the CSAAA explaining what the issues are for importers, distributors, retailers and firearms owners, with the way the OIC's were brought about and how they are being implemented and how the RCMP are abusing the "laws".

A good vid by a non owner who thought they needed to investigate a bit further and published what she found out, she isn't really backing us or against us, but presents a point of view to educate those who don't know better, or are on the fence, or who may not choose to read the progun stuff. She is presenting what the gov't actually did with the OIC's in a different fashion, and a bit of what she found out;

Interesting newsletter from the CSSA
http://web-extract.constantcontact.c...Xv--pEPm8FMKDY
RCMP Letter – Legitimate Notice
or Fishing Expedition?
Last week a letter from the RCMP landed in the mailboxes of licensed firearm owners across the country.
Titled “Announcement of a Firearms Prohibition”, the letter is puzzling because it provides so little actual information about which firearms were banned on May 1, 2020.
For example, the letter says, “Nine (9) types of firearms by make and model, and their variants;” but never tells the reader which nine firearms were actually banned.
The letter further confuses the issue of guns banned by 20 mm bore diameter or muzzle energy greater than 10,000 joules.
“Firearms with a bore of 20 mm or greater, and those capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy greater than 10,000 Joules.”
These are two separate methods to ban firearms, yet the RCMP’s letter implies a firearm must meet both criteria in order to meet the new Prohibited classification threshold.
So why did the RCMP really send this letter?
We’re not sure. The letter is so light on information it’s hard to understand the rationale.
The Trudeau government used Criminal Code Section 117.15(2) to ban these nine firearms and their variants which are, in the opinion of the Minister, not suitable for hunting or sporting use in Canada. [i]
The RCMP’s problem is upwards of 175,000 now-Prohibited firearms were classified as Non-Restricted on April 30, 2020, the day before their virtue-signalling press conference announcing the ban.
The RCMP has no idea who owns any of these guns and the only way to trigger individual notifications is by revoking a Registration Certificate.
Since registration is not required for Non-Restricted firearms, neither the Trudeau government nor the RCMP know who owns these guns.
Notification Required
The notification process for owners of firearms classified as Restricted on May 1, 2020, is triggered by revoking the Registration Certificate for those firearms.
The process for revoking registrations for Restricted class firearms (the AR-15, etc.) is spelled out in the Firearms Act , beginning in Section 72(1). [ii]
72 (1) Subject to subsection (1.1), if a chief firearms officer decides to refuse to issue or to revoke a licence or authorization to transport or the Registrar decides to refuse to issue or to revoke a registration certificate, authorization to export or authorization to import, the chief firearms officer or Registrar shall give notice of the decision in the prescribed form to the applicant for or holder of the licence, registration certificate or authorization.
Section 72(2) details how an individual must be notified when a Registration Certificate is revoked. [iii]
72 (2) A notice given under subsection (1) must include reasons for the decision disclosing the nature of the information relied on for the decision and must be accompanied by a copy of sections 74 to 81.
Therein lies the RCMP’s problem and a possible rationale for the letter sent to all licensed firearm owners in Canada last week.
The RCMP could be on a fishing expedition, attempting to scare a law-abiding gun owner (LAGO) into contacting them to find out if any of their firearms were reclassified as Prohibited by the Liberal government’s gun ban by Order in Council.
The conversation would go something like this:
LAGO: “Can you tell me if any of my guns are banned by Minister Blair’s May 1st Order in Council?”
RCMP: “Absolutely. I’ll just need a little information first. What’s your Possession and Acquisition Licence number?”
LAGO: “1234567.”
RCMP: “Thank you. Are you John Doe?”
LAGO: “Sure am.”
RCMP: “And your current address is 123 Somewhere Street, Toronto, Ontario?”
LAGO: “Yes, it is.”
RCMP: “Thank you for verifying your personal information. Please tell me the makes and models of the firearms you own, and I’ll tell you if any of them are on the Prohibited list.”
CSSA Advice
If you own any firearms the government reclassified from Non-Restricted to Prohibited on May 1st, you are covered by the blanket amnesty they imposed under SOR/2020-97. [iv]
Do NOT call the RCMP to ask if your guns are now Prohibited. The only way the RCMP will know you own any newly-Prohibited firearms is if you tell them.
Do NOT surrender your firearms to the RCMP or any other police force until the Liberal government passes legislation to fund their compensation scheme.
Examine the list of firearms banned by Order in Council and see if any of your firearms are on the list:
http://canadagazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p2/...ors96-eng.html
Even if your firearm is not on the list, it’s still possible the RCMP has reclassified your firearm as Prohibited.
In our CSSA Commentary titled “ Bill Blair Lied ” we explained how, despite the Minister’s protests to the contrary, many shotguns are now reclassified as Prohibited by the RCMP under the bizarre premise they are “variants” of the AR-15.
So far, the RCMP has reclassified many different makes and models of firearms as Prohibited. This includes 12-gauge shotguns, .22 rifles, and a variety of single-shot, bolt-action, break-action and semi-automatic rifles in a variety of calibres.

According to JR Cox @ TSE, Derya Mk12 shotgun has been reclassified to prohib by the RCMP this week, he posted it on his gofundme page. Analytics shows a comment, supposedly in the FRT, of the Derya MK12 as being described, as not being an AR variant by the RCMP on their info on the FRT, JR posted a pic of the FRT showing it as now being prohib. But, has also been confirmed by Wolverine Supplies.
Apparently Sask is bringing in legislation to ban municipalities from banning handguns;

And from the Gun Blog, a new pdf of the prohibs has been put out by the RCMP,

Interesting post from GOC's page concerning importing parts from Brownell's or others when they are parts that may fit an AR;
1 hr · Shared with Public
So did some reading and turns out, DO NOT order parts for an AR from any company in the US! Parts are NOT prohibited BUT the CBSA is now claiming all parts for prohibited firearms must have an import certificate before you order.
Person ordered parts from Brownells BEFORE the ban and the parts were seized by the CBSA. On the CBSA website it states:
114. The importation of parts for prohibited firearms is controlled by the#Export and Import Permits Act. An import permit will thus be required for such goods. If a component or part is declared, but still falls within TI#9898.00.00 because the correct authorizations, licences, or permits are not available, then the parts are prohibited from entering Canada. More information on the import permit requirements for prohibited firearms parts may be obtained by contacting Global Affairs Canada."

It's a feel good statement if nothing else;
Cold Lake, AB – Cold Lake City Council has voted to voice its opposition to the federal government’s decision to ban a number of firearms, and the planned buy-back program associated with the ban.
The decision was made after a notice of motion was tabled by Councillor Kirk Soroka at city council’s June 9, 2020 Regular Meeting. A resolution put forward in the notice of motion was debated and passed at council’s regular meeting this week.
“Council debated if this was an issue that we, as a municipality, wanted to wade into,” Mayor Craig Copeland said. “Ultimately, we felt that the federal government’s gun ban will be an expensive exercise that will only serve to take law abiding people’s property, while doing nothing to reduce crime. Municipalities are the level of government closest to the people, and a large part of our budget and operations is focused on providing safe and healthy communities. We see forecasts of hundreds of millions of federal dollars to be spent to buy guns back from people. As these are people who went through the necessary education, background checks, and licencing to purchase them, it seems to be a poorly thought out plan, especially if its aim is to reduce crime.”
Council noted that the money earmarked to purchase the legally obtained firearms could be better put to use funding crime reduction strategies, for economic stimulus, or emergency aid as part of the COVID-19 response.
“We have not seen the full impact that the COVID-19 economic shutdown will cause, our economy was already reeling from the challenges being experienced in the oil patch, and crime has increasingly been an issue for our residents throughout this region,” Copeland said. “With very limited resources, we work closely with police and peace officers, the social services community, and public stakeholders on strategies to reduce crime and to protect our residents from the crime that does occur. The announcement of an expensive, far-reaching program targeted at law-abiding citizens in the name of crime reduction is something our council hopes other municipalities will voice opposition to.”
The City of Cold Lake’s resolution will be sent to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Bill Blair, as well as the Attorney General’s Office, the Official Opposition, and provincial representatives. Council’s motion also calls on administration to share the resolution with municipalities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba for their consideration.
“On top of our council’s concerns with the gun ban, the federal government continues to drag the City of Cold Lake through the courts as it refuses to honour its own legislation regarding payment in lieu of taxes for federal property,” Copeland said. “The federal government is more than $20 million in arrears to the City of Cold Lake – a community of just under 15,000 people. Perhaps the federal government should honour its own legislation and help municipalities fund services such as police, crime reduction strategies, and social programs. Instead, the feds will spend untold millions more to buy legally owned guns from Canadians who have committed no crime.”
