Checked rents lately, single room shared accommodation is 5-700$ monthly, that's half a month work in many entry level jobs, and if you have student loans ontop of that.... The basement is the only option for many.

Yeah, it is and will be very tough for the youth to start out these days. Prices of everything are just nuts.
