Are wolves one of the hardest animals to mount? It seem their expression is never quite the same as when they are alive(as compared to some deer mounts and other animals). I don't know if it is the way the ears are mounted(too far apart sometimes I think) or the shape of the head? They always just seem "off" to me.

x 2 I want to take a wolf bad. And get it mounted. But most look off to me too. And that's no disrespect to anyone in this post, they are all nice mounts!

I think he got it perfect here. Told Povl, that's just the expression he had on his face, when I squeezed the trigger. Looks like a wild animal, not a domestic dog, with every hair in place. Helps that he has a scar across his nose.

I've always thought that super wrinkled, angry face was ridiculous, doesn't matter what species. No talent way of trying to show facial expression.

Thanks A-zone!
I have several pieces done by Brian at Artistic, of which all of them are incredible! But Marco's work on this wolf, is something I am very proud to have in my collection.
IIRC, I took a gamble in that Marco had not done any wolves yet....but based the decision for him to do the work on other pieces he had done....and I did not go wrong!

I cant figure out how to put pictures up on the forum but i have a nice one mounted. Got him about 7 years ago and wished i had a full body mount. Right now he is a rug mount hanging on the wall. he takes a fair bit off spae up too. Not too sure how you judge size but hes 14 inches inbetween the ears.

It is a really hard mount to do for sure. Here is the wolf I just finished(1st attempt) I was shooting for a mean looking wolf, pretty happy with the result.

I agree! Shot a wolf this spring that I am going to get lifesized... I see they are quite tricky to capture in a way that looks natural. I just hope I'm happy with my finished mount! Here's to hopin!
