Yeah, I see it as two separate things. Mail Delivery and Then package delivery. I get that the amazonification of our society has increased package delivery, but there are other options. It must mean something that if CP isn't amazon's first choice for delivery of items, there must be something wrong with CP (which there is).

I believe if you don’t like what you are being paid then either work harder and go the extra mile to get a raise or promotion or find a new job that pays better. Oh ya I forgot, unskilled labour doesn’t pay the best. Unless you work for Canada post. Threaten to privatize the whole thing and see how fast they get back to work. Just my opinion I guess

The part that frustrates me is the blatant lies. I have a couple parcels in the system that the tracking indicates are delayed due to “weather or natural disaster” - call it what it is, please.

Default Let’s stop insulting workers. Senate update.

Everyone has a job to do. The union is driving the fight. Workers usually follow the lead.

The union should be happy being legislated back to work as a binding arbitrator historically is favourable in the union’s direction.

What is wrong is unions holding small businesses and others hostage over this.

So update. Senate to give yes or no on Monday. Then next day noon strike is hopefully over.

Can someone explain how “legislating back to work” works?
We are union at my job (AUPE) ( though I don’t support the union, save through my forced monthly union fees, and I definitely don’t like the union tactic of bullying) but in my 10 years on the job I have never seen a strike happen for us.

How dies the government forcing back to work policy work, when the union is basically striking to force the employers hand by striking? Doesn’t the kegiskatiin just make it a tug of war of “you give us this! Not until you give us that etc”? I’m not in favour of striking. I’ve always been taught if you want something either work your ass off for it or find a place that is offering what you want and work there. So I’m a little confused as to what make a postal guy who drives around in a company vehicle and walked a few miles a day and so difficult that he needs to go on strike to get more. Not to rag on the postal guys, I know they do a thankless job, like myself, but when I see them at the gym in the early afternoons having finished their routes but being paid for a full days work, it makes it hard to understand why they are unhappy. . Can someone explain?

Start thier day 0500hrs maybe....or 0600hrs....power through then off to the gym....perhaps?

this liberal government is too spineless to actually do something.
Plus some judge might have to get the "Indigenous input into this right"
Cant leave them out of anything....might be some cash in it for them.

I've been hearing from the grape vine there is some serious dissent inside the union. The reason that the leadership never put the cool off offer to a vote -- the each member can have 1,000 bucks cash and it gets revisited in Feb -- is that people would have overwhelming voted for it.

Six weeks with irregular pay is hurting a lot of people big time, and the stomach for the strike is starting to go. The back is almost broken anyway, I don't think they'd need to legislate them back to work but I'm glad they are going to.

If you read the news, it's gotten to the point the union is having to threaten their own workers to not work overtime. The people want to work and need the money, enough is enough.

So if someone skips work breaks and eats lunch on the go to finish their days work so they can leave early, they should just be happy and never ask or deserve more pay or benefits than they now make??????? There are many jobs out there that work on a similar basis.

I never once said that.
But, seeing that you bring up this point, if you are skipping lunches and breaks and working your arse off on a daily basis, good on you. That’s awesome. I appreciate someone who has that drive and motivation. Now if after several months or years of this (wether for personal reasons of getting out early or professionally trying to advance you career) and no one in management or supervisory staff recognizes or notices you for doing it on a positive level, and you have gone to them with requests of advancement or pay increase and they tell you to pound sand then maybe it’s time to find a new employer.
That’s all I’m saying.
