Why?

I've got a brother that will likely out kill most here with his. He's pretty cut and dried results oriented and likes what the 84M has to offer. My Dad hunts an 84M Classic with equally satisfying results.

Being better than you doesn't mean a whole lot really. You give me far to much credit.

I have been wantin to buy a particular kimber for a while now...but
at least 6 people and some knowledgable guys in Dawson Creek said stay away from them, unless I buy a used that is a proven shooter...

Both of the above shoot and shoot very well. I've heard of bad ones, but the guys I know and trust who have owned them have been able to get them to shoot well. If it were me I'd stick with the 84's though.

Ah Chuck, good to have ya back and feeling better. Looked like you were coming down with a slight case of "foot in mouth" disease last week in the bear thread.

you know, or at least have dealt with the one of the guys who advised me. He told me a story of having 4 Kimber barrels that just would not shoot. finally resigned to having a very well known reloader work up a load. Best was still not MOA, consistently....glad to hear your brother's and Dad's are both shooters...

I avoid the kimbers for a few reasons. 1) stories of accuracy issues are way too common. 2) The whole safety issue (now apparantly solved with a trip to Korth) 3) I unscrewed ones barrel with my bare hands. 4) I hate the looks of the bolt handle. That said there are a lot of guys who LOVE them, they are light, and when they shoot well they seem to shoot really well.

If you listen closely there are a couple of people here giving very sound advice. For some reason the peanut gallery has a hard time with that.
