Worked in the bush in northern Ontario for a couple of summers with some of the local Natives. Sat down for lunch one day and the guys started asking me if I believed in Sasquatch. I laughed and said no. They told me about their own experiences with Sasquatches when they'd be out hunting. Big hairy things, stank to high heaven, would watch them from the shadows of the bush, howling at night that sounded like a cross between a human and a wolf. They swore their relatives across the country had similar stories and experiences. Don't know if they were pulling my leg, trying to get a rise out of the silly little white guy, or were telling a real story. Either way, their story was enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

Didn't think anything of it for a few years, then I was working in northern Quebec up around Grande-Baleine part of the James Bay hydro-electric project. Driving down the only road for miles. Come around a corner and a few hundred meters down the road see this big brown thing standing up on two legs. It turned, looked at us, looked like it leaned forward, and ran in to the thick brush on the side of the road. I turned to the girl riding with me and asked "Did you see that?" "Yeah, what the heck was that? No way it was a bear."

We stopped to look where it had run in to the bush and it was like it had never been there, no sign what-so-ever. My money is it was a bear but maybe those guys in northern Ontario were telling the truth.

And science has failed to "prove" many things false.

Sasquatch does exist.

Sasquatch, the Easter bunny, Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, unicorns, dragons, Odin, Thor and the family, nessie, chupacabra, the abominable snowman, Beelzebub, ogopogo, spiderman, the kracken, iron man, all the rest of the dc and marvel heros's, medusa, mermaids, chimera, cyclops, vampires, centaurs, minotaurs, and every other mythical beast that have NEVER left even a fossil behind must exist, they have all been seen!

Good grief.

I do believe in life on other planets though, more stars in the universe than grains of sand on the earth, whoa...

Basing your disbelief of Sasquatch on fossil evidence is somewhat ridiculous. In order for a fossil to actually form there has to certain geological conditions. Not to mention that even to this day new species are discovered around the world AND new species are determined based on fossil evidence.
Good quote from wikipedia "Fossilization is an exceptionally rare occurrence, because most components of formerly living things tend to decompose relatively quickly following death. In order for an organism to be fossilized, the remains normally need to be covered by sediment as soon as possible. However there are exceptions to this, such as if an organism becomes frozen, desiccated, or comes to rest in an anoxic (oxygen-free) environment. There are several different types of fossils and fossilization processes."

Maybe next time you should be informed about the topic your ridiculing....

The thing is, there's no REAL evidence of their existence, fossil or otherwise. All the believers really have is some supposed eye-witness-accounts (which mean nothing from a scientific stand point), some fake looking foot prints in the mud, and a couple segments of grainy video footage of what's probably a guy in a gorrila suit getting the last laugh. Show me a dead one and then I'll believe.

Im with Albertadave... show me physical evidence like a body or real hair and I too will believe. until then all we have are stories of sightings that happened at night or in thick bush with 1 grainy dark picture or some really dark and shaky video footage of something. There was the post about treeguy following a fresh elk trail and then when he figured he was right close to the elk the bush erupted and critters ran everywhere.. ya those were elk. I didnt even need to be there to be sure of this... certainly not bigfoot thats for sure. you creeped yourself out over some elk you busted out of their bedding area. it wasnt a bunch of bigfoots or bigfeets or whatever the plural would be lol. no disrespect treeguy but it seems pretty obvious to me... all your information points to one thing: elk

Bigfoot will never be found because they are not out there....

Guys to a degree im with you, until I see one dead or alive, im not saying YES I believe OR NO I don't. It could very well be a hoax. All im saying is that if people want to discuss the topic they need to be educated about the subject, and not just blow it off because they think its a dumb idea. Making slanderous comments towards an idea and group of people that believe that idea is just plain ignorant. Im fine with everybody having an opinion, but if you want to pick a side, you must have evidence to support your opinion.

Personally my opinion summed up is that ITS POSSIBLE that sasquatch exist. Until I see hard evidence with my own eyes I wont believe that Sasquatch do exist, but im also not going to say that they dont. I think the possibility is there along with years of tracks, eye witness accounts, stories, legends, etc. Now I know that doesnt stand up as "scientific evidence" but do you think that there's THAT many people who just want to screw with others? I don't. Maybe im too optimistic.

I dont think anyone is trying to screw with us or anyone. i really believe all these people are simply mistaken. Most tracks I have seen shown on tv or in displays look like a mishmash of other tracks or blown out tracks in melting snow etc. bear tracks that have had the back foot step in the track of the front foot etc making it look like something a bi-ped might leave behind. I will believe when there is irrefutable evidence, until then all we have is hearsay and a whole lot of maybe's, what if's and could be's and the patterson film.... LOL

i really love the bigfoot talk and get into it with a buddy all the time... its a lot of fun to wonder and theorize on how it would/could survive etc....

you obviously missed 99% of the point of my post; jest, humor.

Did you think that I was eluding to Easter bunny fossils? Lol.

Since you settled in on fossils, of the countess millions of bones and fossils found, none of them have been Bigfoot. There is absolutely no proof at all of their existance, all speculation is based on a glance at something, a smell, 2nd, 3rd or 4th or 27th hand stories, fable.

Relax. No point getting all butt hurt over something that does not exist.

Im perfectly relaxed, and im not "all butt hurt". Your post condescendingly makes fun of those who DO believe in Sasquatch. If your going to be so quick to ridicule, don't you think it might be wise to actually be educated about the topic? In your original post it was made clear you think that fossil evidence has some merit in this debate, and your right it does BUT consider this "As we have seen, many species never left fossils of any kind because they had no hard parts or lived in the wrong place. " - quote from a paleontology textbook.

Also a quote from you "There is absolutely no proof at all of their existance, all speculation is based on a glance at something, a smell, 2nd, 3rd or 4th or 27th hand stories, fable." I challenge you to research this further. If you get right into it there are hundreds of eyewitness accounts, numerous recordings of footprints, I believe there was a hair sample found at one point that "disappeared" on the way to the lab, there is even some questionable video footage available if you look into it.

Back pedal away my friend.

back pedal? If I cared at all I would do the work for you, spoon feed the information but you have a computer, dig up whatever you want.

I only back pedal when I am riding a multi speed bike and the chain gives me grief.

As for making fun of believers, ya ok I did that.

Homo erectus is thought to have been extinct 30 000 years ago... that is next to nothing on the geologic time scale. They then evolved into us Homo Sapiens, it is also maybe possible that erectus evolved into what we call the "Big Foot" and have been given the large cranial capacity trait common in hominoids. And if not erectus then one of the many other hominids. I think big foot is possible but until the hair samples stop showing up as elk or griz i wont believe

That's is not my intention at all, don't think that please. What I said was there is nothing anywhere that absolutely substantiates and proves the claims of Bigfoot, other than hearsay.

I have no interest in discrediting anyone, I am not accredited in any of the scientific fields therefore I can not anyway, but honestly I believe in Bigfoot as much as I do voodoo.

I said all I care to, please don't try to force me to show research on this topic, we are not writing a scientific journal here.

Ummmm... but there is something in the fossil record ( as recently as 300 000 years ) that might be a match to eyewitness accounts.... called giganticopithicus

i lean towards it quite probably exists, being as sightings have been reported/recorded for centuries all over the world and having heard a few freaky second hand accounts.
but untill we have a body who knows for sure.
I know if i won $50mill tomorrow i would spend a year or 5 looking for it
in-between traveling the world hunting and fishing of course.

Default definitely real

When I started investigating accounts a few years ago I thought that how come nobody has a dead one etc, etc. Remember that there is no, zero , zilch evidence of Gorillas or Chimps in the fossil record. I also have heard the argument of finding dead bears etc. that have died of natural causes and it makes sense. But a better example is more towards finding a dead person. There are many accounts of Sasquatch recovering their dead. You only have to look for them. Remember that there is about 400 reported sightings a year in North America. That number appears to be rising due to the popularity of Finding Bigfoot on TV. I have spoken to a lot of hunters who have encountered them in a lot of different states and provinces. Names many would recognize and all of them absolutely sure what they didn't see. Hunters make the very best witnesses but they are also the most reluctant. Nice to see the Pembina come up again as it has a small population that travels it. So does the Little Smokey and Nordegg historically is the area with the most reported activity in Alberta. Most people that haven't seen one don't believe they exist. And I get that. But I can assure you that those that have seen one[or more] KNOW they exist.

With all the trail cams out there you'd think someone would have got a pic of one by now. That is if they are really out there.

Hypertrichosis exsists and it is very rare so I don't see why some other rare genetic mutation couldn't be real.
