Nice looking Shorthair. Sorry to hear Cat. Condolences to you and your son. I had 3 GSP's now, one made it to 16 and a month but her body was worn out, heart, strong as ever when we made the call. All family dogs and what a great bunch they were. Sometimes it is harder to lose your 4 legged friend vs a person. Take care.

Thanks Guys, KGB, I was all done aas well, then read my future daughter in law's post on Facebook!
here is the LouMeister in all his stuck up glory!

And one with his brother Jacob the Cavalier King Charles .
Jake was not much of a hunter but he liked running in the bush with Louie!

Default condolences

Man that sucks! So sorry for your loss Cat, and condolences out to Robbie as well.
Louie was a real trooper these last few years when we got out. We always know when it's getting close to their time, but they always seem a bit more agile and full of life when they are out in the field doing what they love.
I know the hurt will linger for a while, but hopefully you and the family will recover and bring another four legged family member into the household. Nothing like a pup to keep you on your toes and fill those retirement hours with purpose. It keeps us a little younger too!

Default Goodbye Louie

Oh I'm so sorry to this news. Elk is right, they leave way too soon. Sienna is 10 now and I'm still doing pretty well and I know I couldn't stand not haveing a dog, so due to news like this I have bought myself a new puppy, and you guys will love her, Chloe of Happy Valley and she is hot as a firecracker with an attitude. I've lost 5 lbs since she arrived.

If I can train her well enough maybe we can put a trigger together this fall.

That would be fantastic, greatly appreciated, Densa!
I think there is a small Musterlander in the future, but not right away .

Sorry to hear he's gone Cat, never a good time for them to go, and no matter how ready you think you are for it, you're not.

Default the new team

Just going through some old threads and this one popped up, so I though I would add to it, as Louie is still fresh in our minds.
We did not hunt much upland last yer at all year , just not into it with the passing of Louie.
However, as one door closes another opens, and while my son was waiting on a new Small Munsterlander puppy, I got an email from wwbirds about a fantastic Springer that was available in our area.
It worked out great for everyone ( Including Hunter the Springer!), and with the arrival of Rigby the puppy, we were pretty hopeful for this past fall's hunting .
As it turned out, the new team works super together, a seasoned flusher coupled with an outstanding little pointer!

Here's hoping the next few years are going to be epic!

Making new memories and keeping the old ones close. Good on you!

No it doesn't. I have outlived a lot of bird dogs and have never forgotten a single one, al we can do is get another one and work with them, and love them as we would the rest of our family!
Trochu, yup they are a pretty good team!
Hunter was trained by wwbirds and he is a stellar flusher , obediant, and right there all the time.
Rigby is the second bird dog my son has trained, Louie was his first, and he did a bang up job on the little fella even though Rigby is not yet a year old he is fantastic in the field!

After our last dog passed my wife and I both thought no more dogs, but 18 months later we brought home a doodle named Archie.
It is amazing what our pets bring into our world, no questions asked and plenty of tale wags
I'm sure you will reconsider
