Default .357 magnum reloading problem

I need some major help... im trying to reload some .357 magnum amo with .148 gr HBWC Hornady for .358 ... ive set my cartridge plus bullet on top at " 1.565 " and it dosent fit in my gun... seems to be too tight or something.. my crimp is severe.. everything seems perfect so i have no clue whats going on.. any suggestion plz ?

cant find any info... maybe my bullet isnt seated deep enough... suggestion would be very appreciated. thank you.

Will the brass chamber without the bullet ?

Is the brass "expanded" to much ?

yeah the brass fit very well in the cylinder, it just dont go all the way in.. so i was thinking the bullet isnt seated deep enough

i found some info that i should seat em flush with a 1/16 crimp. can anyone confirm. thank you

I may be wrong but i don't think you need to be crimping that load. Did you try without the crimp ?

Yeah the same thing hapenned, the amo just didnt wanted to go all the way in .. im gonna seat it almost flush and try it again in my gun

Looking at it a little more your COL is listed at 1.180" for that round in 38 Special. No listing in 357 mag as it is a target load. Are you using 38 special brass ? If you don't have a hornady manual i could send you load data for your load.

im loading .357 magnum cartridges i really need to figure out the aol lol. if you could send me the data for a .357 magnum i would love you forever.

On the Hodgdon powder site's reloading data they list the col as 1.290" for 148gr HDY LHBWC. Check their site for the entire 357 Magnum loading data.

Just to rule out other possibilities, can you easily fit a factory load? If so, suggest compare some measurements using a caliper...

I load hbwc in my 357. I seat them .050" over the top of the case. As others have said play with your expander so it will still fit in the cylinder but just. I don't use a crimp with mine. Not that I think you don't take care of you pistol but is the cylinder clean? After about 100 rounds in mine the round start to get hard to load because of pure lead and unique.
