Default Gutting fish

Last week me and my dad went fishing. When we got to the lake there was one other guy there when he caught his 5th fish he gave it to us beacaus he wanted to keep fishing and the limit is 5. When we got home we started to fillet all the fish. When we got to the one tis guy gave us and opened it up there were no guts. We were both suprised by this and would like to know how he did this?

If it helps around the gills was pretty bloody but it might have been from the hook

Okay my bad.

Were the guts removed through a smaller cut that you missed? Then you sliced the belly open and the other fisherman had already gutted it?

Its not possible for a fish to live without organs so...

I guess its possible... fitting all the internal organs of a brookie out of their mouth would take alot of force tho...

The bigger question is HOW would that happen..

Also in the future, your not allowed to keep fish someone else has caught. The limit is per angler, per day and you have to catch the fish. NOT chewing you out for this because it sounds like you didn't know. But in the future, bad idea.

Are you sure a fisherman cant give me a fish? If it does not put me over my legal limit?

nothing in the regs say who has to catch them , just 5 per person.

X2 you're allowed to 'gift' fish to people.

Perhaps the brookie swallowed the hook and had it's guts pulled out while it was being brought in?

I was gifted a rainbow buy I guy who felt sorry that I couldn't catch anything all evening and he had his limit in a few minutes. I felt like punching him in the face.... the fish was good though.

Well , your partly right , what it says in the regs is that the fellow that gave him the fish also has to include it in HIS daily limit , so by law the fellow that gave this chap the fish is breaking the law by catching 6 , not the young fellow recieving it , hard to prove tho, goes on all the time.
