I want to open this because I have a problem myself. My dad is currently in possession of two rifles and a shotgun. They have all been in the family for years and have changed hands a few times. They all have the serial numbers but I know that none are registered. What steps should I take to re-register these firearms?
Any and all help is appreciated as I don't want these guns to be unregistered and in my parents home. What would happen if someone broke in and stole them?! They live in the country but you never know.
Thank you everyone and I hope to hear some good news!

The long gun amnesty was renewed, so your safe.

What it means is that you can
A. Call up the CFC and register it, I believe you can do it online also by logging into your account via firearms license number.
B. Dont register. If caught with them, you will probably get charged but the amnesty will protect you. Meaning while the RCMP would seize them, you can still call in and register them.
Downside is you may still go through a few thousand in lawyer fees to settle everything out.
Upside is the gov't will never know you have them, and will never be able to confiscate them.
Im not sure how it would work if they are stolen, but I would think you could either deny ownership of them (being that you have no proof that they are yours), or you could
probably call in and register them and claim them as stolen at the same time or simply report them as stolen(once again, the amnesty should protect you there).
With the vote on C-391 (bill to kill the long gun registry) taking place on September 21st an 22nd I would wait.
