Chinese made M14's ... any thoughts/advice?

I dabble a bit in service rifle competitions every once in a while. So far I've used various types of bolts, but I'm thinking of mixing it up at bit and trying out an M14.

I just wanted to see if any AO members had some experience with Chinese made M14s. The Chinese brand names I'm aware of are Polytech and Norinco.

Hmmm ... sometimes known as Chicom M14's, I understand they are a bit of a mixed bag. But I don't blame you for considering them, given the *&^%$#@ cost of American made civilian (semi-auto only) versions ... sometimes $2K+!

I've heard the same thing. I've heard the Poly's are regularly doing <1" @ 100M but I've never shot one. I have shot the Norinco and it was reliable but I had just mounted a scope and was zeroing it for a buddy who was happy with it as soon as I got it within a couple inches of zero @ 50m then took it and blew off the rest of his ammo b4 I got a chance to see how consistent it was.
